Hi, i’m looking for some advice on getting to Athens Greece from US.

-Preferably from around Chicago, but i’m flexible. I have a free ticket around the states
-Willing to go to Europe first, then go elsewhere.
-Trying to get there around the 6th of august and leave around the 24th(i have a meeting, but it’s ok to skip a bit to save)

The cheapest I have found so far on any of the searches has been about 1200-1300 without having to hit a hub in europe first.(on cheapoair.com, can’t remember exact dates)

I saw from a couple of other posts that icelandair has cheap flights. I saw one to copenhagen for about 7-800, is it easy/cheap to get a flight/other transportation from copenhagen to athens? Have been having trouble searching for these tickets.

Any help would be really appreciated.

I see Norwegian.no CPH-ATH 6Aug and Cimber.dk ATH-CPH 23 or 25 Aug for $244 USD round trip total. If you can wait until the 11th, then Malev has CPH-ATH at $177 total round trip, but connects at BUD each way.

Thanks, that could work.

Do you by chance have any idea if there is a cheaper flight from us to europe somewhere than the ~800(actually on icelandexpress nyc—> cop)? Or do you think that this is a pretty good deal already?

I saw that the icelandexpress had a deal for 399 that I missed unfortunately.

I haven’t seen anything better for early August than the possible Iceland Express that might still have 1 or 2 seats left to somewhere; otherwise I’m seeing published fares in the mid 800s from NYC to several destinations, but not Athens.

Are you a student or under 26? Have you tried all of the links—especially the consolidators—in our new user thread at top of this forum?

Yeah, i’m under 26, haven’t had much luck with the youth/student sites though.

I may have a cheap ticket with some frequent flyer miles that I could use to get to paris(cdg). Do you know how cheap I could get a flight from there to athens on ~6th aug to ~24 aug?

I can’t seem to find those really cheap flights intereurope. I tried the sites in the sticky post sites, but couldn’t come up w/ less than like 500. Do you have any tips on searching this type?

Thanks

Go to skyscanner.net, put in your cities, dates (or choose “view whole month” from the drop-down calendars next to date inputs), and submit. Here’s PAR-ATH round trip over August: http://www.skyscanne…

$1200-1300 for ORD-ATH in August (and also considering the fact that you’re kind of booking last minute too) is actually a decent price. I would otherwise expect about $1400-1500.

I believe cheapoair’s quotes don’t include booking fees. Orbitz quotes the total price (thus including taxes and fees), so you’ll want to double-check there.
