VOIP phone to / from Europe

Anyone who has used **VOIP Phone **(Voice Over Internet Protocal) phone while traveling in Europe please comment on the pros / cons of using VOIP.
I have “Magic Jack” phone (VOIP) and plan to take my laptop and a small old-school phone to Europe. I plan to use WiFi connections while traveling rather than Broadband.
Love to hear from those who have done this whay you think of the plan. Thank you.

I have coworkers in Europe with Vonage and it works. I’ve been wondering about MagicJack myself. Why not just use Skype if you’re going to take a laptop?
