Webjet.com?
Thu, 02/21/2013 - 17:34
I had not heard of webjet.com, but they came up using airfare watchdog with $922 (including fees and taxes and 1 checked bag) on star alliance for r/t DSM to London in early May. Cheapest was via Calgary with a “technical stop” ???? in Chicago, but $6 more provided a reasonable itinerary.
Anybody had any experience with webjet?

They’re a consolidator and have been around for a while. I don’t recall if I’ve booked through them — maybe? there’s been a lot over the years. As a consolidator, other sources probably have similar pricing.
A technical stop means it stops to pick up or drop off passengers, or to refuel; the same flight then goes on to it’s final destination. T-stops are usually relatively short, maybe 30 mins. to 1 hr, depending on size of the aircraft.
I just ran ITA with DSM-LON (+MAN, BHX, BRU) all May with 6-13 night stays. I’m seeing some published fares at $878 total if you included MAN in the mix. For ex., May 13-20 to LHR, return from MAN; American with 1 reasonable connection at O’hare each way. However, if you’ve got LON for $922, then probably not worth adding Megabus up to MAN—unless you wanted to go, anyway.
ITA found $917 May 15-21 to/from LHR. That makes me think this is a sale fare and probably not a special rate with a consolidator. Maybe try1800flyeurope.com too if you haven’t already.

Thanks Don. This is one where I won’t know exact dates, or for that matter even if I can swing it, until April. Roundtrip Paris or open jaw involving two of Paris, Brussels, Frankfurt will probably be best.
I’ve been using the airfare watchdog alerts to follow the general trends. This came up about $100 cheaper than what I’d been seeing over the last few months.
