what do you like in a guidebook?

So I’ve been planning my next trip to Europe, and, as always, I’m hating the guidebooks. Let’s Go has better lists of hostels, but the only things they list about a city are the highbrow sights. Sometimes I just like to know where to get some good people-watching. And RG has too much background for me, and Lonely Planet is way too general. Of course, this is just mho. But I work in publishing, and I’m thinking of starting my own guidebook series. Probably just a pipe dream borne out of guidebook frustration, but…what would the dream guidebook be like? Just curious as to other’s thoughts…
