quote:Today, the extrasomatic energy used by people around the world is equal to the work of some 280 billion men. It is as if every man, woman, and child in the world had 50 slaves. In a technological society such as the United States, every person has more than 200 such "ghost slaves."

when the oil runs out, who is going to pick up the slack of these 200 ‘Ghost Slaves’ for Americans ?? Obviously the extrasomatic energy may be picked up in some part by beasts of labour and other hydro sources but there will be a massive shortfall, which by industrial design and consumption habits will crush the American population like a gnat

Like I said before, all that money and energy spent on war could be put to better use in researching new sources and tecnology for fuel. But that’s too much to ask. God forbid, we might loose our traditions.

On some news program recently they said Kuwait only had 100 years left of oil reserves. I wonder what they will do for money after that.

The oil isn’t going to run out. The real question is what will happen to the ME countries when we switch to non-fossil alternatives and their economies evaporate. They need to start thinking instead of praying, and start producing something else that might be sellable besides barrels of oil, if they hope to survive.

Still say alternative fuel sources exist and they have been held back by oil companies.

It’s a matter of one business trying to prevent competition.

I agree that dropping something like that at once could really slam the economy until the support system developes for the alternative source.

Eat the food, use the wrong verbs, and end up getting charged double.

You people are stupid!
They have many alternative fuels.
Many of them now are just too expensive and impractical.
Eventually we will have to switch. The only key is to gradually switch. You stupid people, have patients!. We are gradually introducing alternative methods, Switch all at once or too fast would shake the economy. Stupid people.

I don’t have patients, I always thought you had to be a doctor or dentist to have patients, do you think I can buy some patients? Where can I find them?

You people are sad.
You cannot compare with a raving genius such as I, so you go after the most inconsequential thing possible, somebody’s mistake on a message board.
Jester you should be worrying about more important things, like how you’re going to jump that fence before somebody cathes you.

You refered to me as "IC" instead of Icbites.
That must mean you love me.

If you’re gonna insult me, you gotta try harder, I need not jump the fence since I am a US citizen…..

And yet, english is not my first language, and I can spell patience, like many who jump the fence….

Guys, you are forgetting one or two important factors here. Yes, the USA is (by far) the most wasteful nation on the planet. However, recent energy concerns, high fuel prices, and criticism directed towards the Auto-Making community, we know three things for certain.

A. Hybrids are already here, they work, and they are starting to become popular and not-so-expensive.

B. Sales of SUV’s at the "Big Three" (Ford, GM, DAIM-CHRY.) are wayyyy down over the past 15 months!

C. Taxes on things like fuel, liquor and smokes have gone wayyy up, and will sky-rocket if & when the Democrats get back in office.
