I wasn’t crazy about the Bahamas, but I was there on a cruise that the in-laws paid for. I think maybe we didn’t see the best that the Bahamas have to offer.

I’ve been there twice.  Once was a trip to Nassau.  We stayed on Cable Beach which was uncrowded and beautiful and enjoyable in a kind of “beach, steel drum show, beach, cassino, beach, night club show, beach” sort of way.  Central Nassau was kind of a disappointment and the people we met who were in Nassau as a port of call on a cruise were very, very negative about it.  The second time we were on a cruise.  We anchored off Abacco and had an interesting side trip to New Plymouth and time at an Island owned by the cruise line (supposedly where the opening and closing to Gilligan’s Island and the Blue Lagoon were shot) which had a gorgeous, uncrowded beach and the best snorkeling I’ve ever experienced.
