Fattoria Bassetto
Fattoria Bassetto is a family owned guesthouse located in Certaldo, a lovely medieval town of the Tuscan countryside (one hour train from Florence and Pisa). A great place to relax from busy cities and experience the true taste of Tuscan life.
Our family home was formerly a convent of Benedictine monks that was always open to pilgrims passing through. Most recently it was a working farm producing local wine and oil.
In 1998 we opened Fattoria Bassetto again to travellers with the same notion of hospitality as the monks centuries ago and with ideas based on what we saw in guesthouses overseas during our own travels.
We wanted our guesthouse to be unique in terms of setting and location, a place you would want to return to at night and somewhere to relax from city tours.
Meander through landscapes sculpted by sunflowers, rolling hills and farms on foot, bicycle, horseback or mini-van (June-September). Why not day trip by public transport to see the splendors of Florence, Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano and other towns which are less than an hour away?
You can try your hand in the communal kitchen with Tuscan recipes from our cooking classes, sample local wines, or do little more than put your feet up by the swimming pool and enjoy the views and Tuscan life.
There is something for everyone here.
PRIVATE ROOMS open February 16 to December 15; DORM BEDS open Apr. 1 to Oct. 31
