Case Vacanze Trabinis
Trabinis residence is located in the heart of the old town of Trapani, an ancient city founded by the legendary Elimi Sicani and inhabited later by the Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and Spaniards. It 's the result of a careful conversion of an historic building, which has developed the original features enhancing the comfort and modern refinement.
The name of the residence, Trabinis, is inspired by the name of the city of Trapani at the time of Arab domination, when the plant of the town core was redifined, the sewer ystem wasdesigned , the port was expanded and new neighborhoods were built. The Arabs conquered Sicily in 827 and this domination profoundly marked the island.
Many Sicilian dishes and ingredients derives from Arabic way of cooking; Sicilians have been able to revisit and, in some cases to improve them. It 's the case of Cous Cous, inherited from the Arabs, but renewed by Trapani inhabitants with the invention of the variant based on fish. But the Arabic influence has also affected the place names and Trapani dialect. In fact, hundreds of towns’and municipalities’ names is have got Arabic origin.
Durind the two centuries of Arabic domination, Trapani became important for the tuna’s fishing (the long and big fish which have been fished for decades in our sea) for the salt, and for coral fishing
