Chiostro Delle Monache
Apart from the nature of its structure, which is ideal for relaxation and study, the Chiostro delle Monache is also situated in an optimum position from where one can easily connect to the major historical and artistic centres of Tuscany: one hour to Pisa, Florence, Siena and only 30 minutes to the seaside and San Gimignano. Without any architectural barriers, the Hostel is characterized in a particular model, due to its wonderful internal Cloister, based on the designs of Michelazzo (sculptor and architect of Donatello workshop).
The history of the church and its convent
Ostello- Chiostro delle Monache Volterra
Inside the Church of San Girolamo of the XV century and in its chapels on the side of the Portico, there are considerable works, among which the terracotta of Giovanni Della Robbia, on which one can read ‘Questa tavola a fatto fare Michelangelo di Niccolajo Ceregli. MCCCCC’. There exists also another beautiful plate of Robbia and the welcoming Annunciation of Benvenuto Di Giovanni in the adjacent Convent.
Inside the Chiostro delle Monache there are a bar, a tv room, reading room. If you want to enjoy the quietness of this facility, you can sit or walk in our beautiful cloister, far from the chaos of the big cities and from the everyday life. In the summer you can have your breakfast there or as always in the marvelous frescoed entertainment hall, where, by reservation, also lunches, dinners, business meetings, exhibitions and ceremonies can be prepared. WIFI FREE
At the back of the Chiostro there is a wide free parking available for all our guests.
And for our younger guests, we have a play area, interior, where they can spend some time in the heat of summer and get to know with other children.
