The Nerja Cave, referred to as the “Cathedral of the Costa del Sol”, is found 750 meters from the coastline on a plateau and around 200 meters above sea level facing the mountain rage of Sierra de Almijara. The cavern is open to the public and covers an area of 140,000 square meters, with a maximum length of 700 meters. Upon arrival in Frigiliana, one can feel its Moorish past in a village decorated with orange roof tiles contrasting with the dramatically white-washed façades. The old section, commonly called the “barribarto” by its people, is an endless succession of narrow, winding streets filled with multicolored flowers, where in the early-morning hours, wicker baskets and typical ceramics hang outside the shops. The Jimesol, in collaboration with the local council, can offer you the opportunities for many sporting activities in the nearby recreational centre. You can stay active on the tennis courts or work-out in the gym. Gather friends together for a game of football or beach volley.
