The prison was built in 1862 and used as until autumn 1998. Where prisoners attempted to escape for more than 135 years, today, tourists and residents enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Jail hotel. During the weekend, there might be some musical noise from the Club "Jailhouse Lucerne", which is in the same building. All the rooms are equipped with toilet, washbasin and shower. All the rooms are Non-Smoking. There is no Elevator and no TV or Phones in the rooms - we like to keep the atmosphere original! Would you like to know more about life behind bars? We recommend a stay in our "unplugged-cells". Renovated in cooperation with the local memorial board, these rooms are as close you can get to the original cells. Each room has its own private shower across the hallway. Information: - the hotel is open 24 hours - breakfast is served from 7.00 till 10.00 am (weekend from 7.00 till 11.00 am) - Parking: public parking station „Altstadt“ (only 5 minutes walking distance) - pet cost 15 CHF per pet/night But watch out!
