Asian girl travelling solo

Hey,

How would I fare as a petite Asian female travelling abroad in Europe…. solo? I am 24 but look young, like college age. Am I going to stick out much? I don’t mind sticking out, but am I going to be hassled or targeted because of some presupposed ideas that Asians are gullible and vulnerable, and me being female could also add to that “victim” quality? I doubt that will happen but… just to be sure.

Female, 5 weeks, by myself, HELP!

I have never been outside the US except Canada and Mexico. I am going for 5 weeks, Apr. 29th – June 7th…BY MYSELF. Should I be scared? Safety tips? I am 25, tall blonde and stick out like a sore thumb. How can I blend in so I can be safe. ALSO; let me know if this is a good route/doable in 5 weeks. I am starting and ending in Barcelona b/c I have a friend from high school there…

Florence
Zurich
Munich
Salzburg
Vienna
Prague
Hamburg
Amsterdam
Brussels

Any advice would be so much appreciated!

Foodie on an adventure, first time to Europe!

Hey All!

I’m going to Europe for just under 4 weeks. The first 11 days I’ll be with a group called Contiki and then on my own for the rest. I’m going the middle of september to the beginning of october 2010.

I’m a foodie on an adventure so if you can recommend some great restaurants or cafes, pubs, bars, etc. (While on a budget please haha!) Also looking for things to do with my spare time and things that everyone should see on their first trip to Europe.

All suggestions welcome!!!

All in Prague

I’ll be travelling to Prague for 4 nights in April during the Easter period by myself. I’m going by myself because my travel buddy is going back to Australia for two weeks and I don’t want to be on holidays, bumming around by myself not seeing anything. So I’ve decided to go to Prague.

However the first reaction my work colleagues had was ‘You can’t go to Prague by yourself?

traveling alone at 17

Hey, im travelling around europe (probably France, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Italy) for 22 days on my own and am just wondering if being under 18 could make finding a hostel (or any other part of the trip) any more difficult as some places i have seen on the internet don’t allow under 18’s without an adult and i am planning on booking some of the hostels when i arrive.

First timer Slightly worried!

So i plan to go back packing across europe – just western – next summer. I was a bit worried about all the horror stories ive read so far, and wondered was their anything i could do – or avoid, when backpacking alone? Ive already rulled out night trains, as they seem to be when a lot of people get hassel, but im still worried about the stories ive heard from people being harassed in Italy by gypsies. This is where i plan to spen most of my time, so advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

How to go about living?

Hey everyone,

So I have been trying to summon up the courage to do this for a long time and finally decide to depart in either October or December. I work for an internet marketing company in New york and asked for permission if I can move to europe and work remotely since i pretty much only need internet access to do my job, and they granted me permission. My apartment lease ends in october, so im putting all my stuff in storage and moving to europe. The duration is indefinite, but my goal is to see at least 10-15 countries and as many cities within each as I can.
