Hey all,
This is my first eurotrip.. Here are my questions, any help is appreciated, thanks!:
Q1: All throughout this 14-day trip, are there any parts where it is a better idea to use flight instead of train as a mode of transportation?
Q2: Might want to go to Munich from Amsterdam. But are there other better/more convenient destinations to go to from Amsterdam on the way to Venice?
Q3: What is the best way to get to Munich from Amsterdam? Should I leave Amsterdam at night and sleep the train ride (if there is one?)?
Q4: What’s the best way to get from Munich to Venice? Should I even bother staying overnight in Venice, or just haul ass over to Florence after seeing the sites? (Note: I have 1 unscheduled day left for some cushion)
Thanks!!
1: Check Easyjet for London to Amsterdam.
2: Munich is a good distance from Amsterdam, but if you want to go to Venice it’s a great stop on the way and Munich is a fantastic city.
3: There is a night train and might be a good option.
4: It’s up to yourself but I personally would just spend the day in Venice.
Thanks for the insight, Davy! I revised my itinerary so its less hectic.
However, I’m mainly concerned about transportation. I’m looking to purchase the Eurail pass and take most of the trip by train. Here are the details:
That’s 33 hours total of traveling, most of it by night-train. Is this a good route, or are there any portions of the trip where I should be traveling by plane? Thanks!!
I like the revised itinerary, As I said I would advise you check easyjet for the London to Amsterdam portion.
Thanks Davy! So here’s my final list of transportation (my apologies for the detail, I just find it helpful for myself when I spell everything out visually)….
1) Fly out of London on afternoon of May 31 to Amsterdam via easyjet.
2) On June 2, take overnight train from Amsterdam to Berlin
3) Morning of June 6, take a day train from Berlin to Prague
4) On evening of June 8, take overnight train from Prague to Paris.
Thanks again for all the input!
Thanks!
Quick question: What type of Eurail pass should I be purchasing for this journey? I am under 26 years old. Should I even be buying one? I was considering purchasing the 4-country Youth Select Pass…
No great expert on Eurail ticket, but with only 3 journey’s might not be worth it, but that said trains are expensive in that part of Europe.Perhap’s post the question on the Transport Forum to get a better response.
