    Hello,
We’re just starting to plan this trip for September 2012. It will be the first time that we visit Europe. We’re both in our young/mid 20s just finish up grad school at this point. Our original plan was start in London>Paris>S. France>Italy>Switzerland>Germany>Amsterdam. This originally worked for my itinerary but the friend I’m going with wants to go further South in Italy than I originally planned so it didn’t make sense to me to travel all the way south in italy to backtrack. We have day trips planned from some of the cities (Bath, Versaille, etc). I hope to work in the Amalfi Coast somewhere in there too maybe.
I figure this is probably still too rushed though?
What would everyone recommend changing? cutting? adding?

We still have lots of time to plan so we’d like as much advice/information as we can gather before we start putting our trip together so we can have the best trip possible.

Any and all help is much appreciated Smile

I like this itinerary and your comfortable pace. Is there a specific reason you picked Zurich?

    Thanks for your reply.
I don’t actually have a reason picked for Zurich – Switzerland is still one of the countries I have to look into more to see where we’d like to go. Any recommendations? Would you go to Bern? Lucerne? Geneva – seems a bit out of the way for our route.
    Thanks!

Zurich is probably the best transportation hub, but I don’t think it’s a great visit other than as a base to go somewhere else. None of the cities you mention is actually in the Alps — I assume mountains, not cities, is the reason you want to go to Switzerland???

I’m not a great fan of Switzerland, so not a good reference for that part of your trip. You could post something about your interests and reason for wanting to visit Switzerland in our “favorite places” forum for recommendations about the best options for your week there.

Thanks, this has been helpful. I still have to do a lot more research on Switzerland, I just think it’s a beautiful country and it’s right on our route anyways so while we probably won’t be travelling across the country to Geneva, I would like to spend some time in the country. But I will definitely look further into other locations Smile
    Thanks!
