For The Hardcore Game of Thrones Fan

Ever since its premier three years ago, The Game of Thrones has steadily become one of the most popular television series on cable. And while it is set in a fictional world, shooting is done right here on dragon-less earth. Best of all for Eurotrippers, it is mostly shot in Europe!

[NOTE: We do understand this may not be the most feasible trip due to the distances between locations, but it is a great way to see some of your favorite GOT spots if you find yourself in any of these countries.]

    Here is the lowdown:

    • Iceland is where all scenes north of the wall are shot. No need to fear White Walkers, but be sure to steer clear of Hákarl.
    • Northern Ireland & Scotland contain the primary locations for shooting scenes for Winterfell, Castle Black and countless other spots.
    • Morocco is the primary location for Daenerys’ scenes. With the heat, sand and sun, Morocco provides the best environment for this distant land.
    • Dubrovnik, Croatia is King’s Landing. This walled in city on the sea is the perfect location for the capital of Westeros. Even if you are not a Game of Thrones fan, you will undoubtedly be astonished and charmed by this gorgeous, enchanting city.
