Excursions from Interlaken and Gimmelwald

Hi,

We are trying to plan the Switzerland leg of our trip. My wife and I’ll be staying at Interlaken for 2 days and then in Gimmelwald for 2 days. We’ll be buying the Swiss Saver Pass for 4 days and wanted to know what’s the best bang for the buck using this pass. For now, we are planning to take the Interlaken to Jungfrajoch trip on the first day and then the Golden Pass Express from Interlaken -> Luzern -> Montreux -> Interlaken on the second day (I understand this is just a return trip on the same train).

Cheapest way from Brugee/Brussels to Interlaken... leaving in about a little over a week!!

Trying to get from Bruges to Interlaken in the fastest, cheapest, and most efficient way. Been looking into train travel, and have been quite confused by the variety of apparent possibility. Also been going through the flight websites, and haven’t found anything even remotely in my range. Any advice on the best way to do it by train, or perhaps a website or company to use for flight travel, would be really really helpful. I’m leaving for Belgium next monday, and want to head to Interlaken by saturday (probably take a night train friday).

Camping in Switzerland

So I am an 18 year old from British Colombia, Canada and I am in the final planning stages of my first solo Eurotrip holds for applause! I had some questions for all you grizzled veterans of stepping off the beaten trail. A fantasy of mine has been to just hike off away from the population with some camping gear and rough it away from civilization. I have had years of camping experiance in BC and have good gear that I will bringing with me anyway and with the little info I have, I hear Interlaken, Switzerland is the place to be.

Munich to Interlaken

All,

Anyone have any recommendations for the trip by rail from Munich to Interlaken. After researching on Bahn.de, looks like there’s minimum 2 transfers, and its about 7 hours.

Any recommendations for spending a day in between? Stopping somewhere? Seeing something? Alternative routes? This is one of the last things we have to clear up before leaving in June.

Travel dates from Amsterdam-Munich will be 21-Jun by night train (preferably).
Travel dates from Munich-Interlaken will be 25-Jun by train.

Interlaken Hostels

Does anyone know if it will be possible to book Funny Farm or Balmer’s just a few days before we arrive? We are planning on being in Amsterdam and Munich beforehand, and don’t want to limit flexibility in our days with a premature booking of one of the two good hostels in Interlaken… should we bite the bullet and book ahead anyways to make sure we get a room? Or will a 3 day in advance booking while were in Munich be safe?

Cheers!

Amsterdam to Munich to Interlaken

All,

I assume that rail would be the best way to get from Amsterdam to Munich (for budget travelers), and then from Munich to Interlaken. Is there anything specifically to note when traveling by rail — should we make sure to take the night train or stop in any specific cities (for a brief period)? We will be in Amsterdam for 3 nights, Munich for 3/4 nights, and Interlaken for 3 nights.

Thanks in advance for the advice — trying to nail down this leg of our itinerary as we are going in June-July ’09, and really excited about Munich and Interlaken.

Cheers!
