Guided tours vs. solo travel
Hi Everyone
I know there are a few topics out there on this already but I wanted to talk about it again and not be buried under dozens of responses.
I have been traveling in Europe numerous times over the past 10 years and except for my first trip with a school group that ignited my travel bug, all my trips have been independent. I’ve gone with friends and family and have always really enjoyed myself. Recently I had two weeks off in February and was in the position to take another trip.
Ten days in London and France versus visting several countries?
Hi! My boyfriend and I are headed to Europe this summer for a wedding in Tours (apparently 2h from Paris). Neither of us has been before, so I feel a little lost trying to plan things. We’ll be gone for about 10 days (haven’t booked flights yet). We’ll probably fly into London, where our friend lives, then go to Tours for Fri-Sun. I’m looking for advice on spending time exporing France (I’d like to see Paris, but other than that I don’t really know much about the other places) versus trying to take in other countries. I’d love to see Venice and/or Rome.
Madrid, Valencia, Bordeaux or Tours???
Hi, I’m backpacking solo. As part of my trip I’m visiting Valencia, Bordeaux and Tours. I have the option of staying at two of the places for 1 full day and 2 nights but the other place I’ll get to stay 3 days and 4 nights (bus rules not mine!). I’m stopping only over night in Madrid – get in late, leave early. So should I stay longer at V, B or T or should I give Madrid more of a go? Which is your favourite place out of these four?
Thanks heaps in advance!
1 Month in Europe (Oct 2008)
It has been a bit of a whirlwind in regards to what trip I am going to do this fall. I was originally planning on hitting just Croatia, but now my trip has been extended giving me enough time to do a real tour of Europe.
This is the path I was planning on taking. I am going to be there for about 4 weeks (maybe 5 weeks if I need to).
Quick overview:
Amsterdam (2 days)
Brugge (2 days)
Baden-Baden (1 or 2 days)
Munich (3 days)
Salzburg (1 day)
Venice (2 days)
Rome (2 days)
Florence (2 days)
Nice (or there abouts) (2 days)
