Hi, I am going to Amsterdam in August.  I will stay there for 1 week. What are the good day trips from there?  I’ve been to Brugges and Brussels before.  I would not mind going back to Brussels again.  Any idea how easy/expensive it is?

Any other good day trips?

Thank you in advance.

I suggest a day trip to some of the WW II memorials throughout the Netherlands!!!  I only looked up Canadian memorials (I am sure there are some american ones asweell)  It is amazing to see how well the up keep of the grounds around the tomb stones!!!!!

I toured to HOLTEN (small town in The Netherlands…. you can get a direct train from Amsterdam) in 04 and met up with a gentleman who was 6 years old when Canadian troops liberated the town from German occupation.  He spent the day with me taking me to the memorial, out for supper and showing me pictures from when he was a child…… THIS WAS MY BEST DAY IN EUROPE  out of my past 7 times over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about heading out into the smaller towns, and hiring a bike and cycling along the small country lanes, brilliant way of spending a relaxing day (well not relaxing biking)

I camped in Edam, just outside of Amsterdam. It was a cute place. We rented bikes and toured around one day. Good cheese. [Wink]
