17 days of travel, need help!!!!
Sat, 06/02/2007 - 23:46
Hi all. 1st time traveler. Flying in and out of rome. Spending some time in Naples, Capri, Ischia with freinds and their family. I have 17 days from then on to travel before flying back to Rome to fly back to the US. Would like some feedback on my tentitive itinerary. Here it is. Please give me as much feedback as possible.
Rome to Florance 2 days
Florance to Interlaken 2 days
Interlaken to Munich 3 days
Munich to Pruage 2 days
Prauge to Berlin 3 days
Berlin to Amsterdam 3 days
Fly back Amsterdam to Rome
Rome back to States
I know there are a few extra days, they are just in case, travel problems, ect…
I plan on trying to do as many overnight trains as possible and will be staying at hostels. Please give me advice!!!!!

Your plan looks pretty good to me — a little rushed, but it will be fine since you have some extra days to work with.
I would not try to do “as many overnight trains as possible” as you often do not get a good nights’ sleep and it’s disorienting and tiring to arrive in a strange city at morning rush hour. Sometimrs, all you really want is a shower and a nap and you can’t check into your hostel (or sometimes even dump your backback) until mid afternoon. I usually limit to an average of one, maximum two, overnight trains a week. For 17 days, I’d do 3 — 4 would be the absolute max.
old lady,
If you had to change, add/delete on of the stops, what would you do? Looking for suggestions. Don’t want to be over rushed, but still want to see as much as possible. thanks 4 the feedback
