18 year old guy in Paris, where do all teenagers hang out?
Mon, 06/21/2010 - 00:14
I’m going to be going to Paris in a month and I’m an 18 year old male. I’m wondering 1)where the Parisian teens around my age hang out, 2) how hard it is to talk to them, 3) if they like Americans or if they’re indifferent?
I’m also wondering where the best clubs are for 18 year olds in Paris. I’ve been to many discotechs in Italy and they’re all usually filled with girls and their boyfriends; the point of a club is usually for single people to party, not usually couples but hey, what can you do.

If you want to meet some girls of you age you should pick an hostel in the Quartier Latin wish is the student area. I didn’t go out to party often but my friends did an at a walking distance. We stayed at the BVJ Quartier Latin ( www.bvjhotel.com )
O’Sullivans by the Mill is a really hip mega-pub and music venue and is one of the most “Ensligh-friendly” bars in Paris. The crowd there is mainly Irish, English, and Australian regulars and travelers, 20s to 30s. The L-shaped bar is surrounded by multiple TV screens and comfortable chairs. The bar becomes extremely busy for sporting events and the crowd nearly triples in size.
I also recommend going to Cafe Oz which is also a bar that houses very energetic and outgoing French and English speakers. The decor is rich in the “Aussie” or Australian style of pub. They have a lot of theme nights where they bring in different DJ’s or live bands.
Finally, Experimental Cocktail Lounge is a really cool bar to go to that specialized in custom cocktails made with ingredients like Champagne, vodka, basil, lemon grass, and elderflower. They are very welcoming with newcomers as well as regulars. A DJ plays typical French and American pop with some 80s and electronic mixed in, and also takes requests. It’s definitely a fun place to go!
I really recommend looking at this site “Party Earth – Europe” which literally gives lists of places to go on certain nights of the week in Paris as well as 13 other main European cities. I bought this book actually when I went to Europe last summer and found it extremely helpful and accurate. Hope this helps!
Thank you for all that info. I will most likely be staying in the 1st arrondissement, so can anyone tell me about travelling from say, the 1st to the 18th? Also does anyone have any other info on clubs/hangout spots?
The metro is super easy to use in Paris. You won’t have any problem getting from the 1st to the 18th if you need to. If you’re going to be using the metro very much, just get a ten ticket pass. It’ll be a little cheaper.
Frankfurt, Hanau, Cologne, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Munich, Frankfurt
Oh ok. I’m not familiar with a ten ticket pass, is that an unlimited pass or something? Or is there such thing as an unlimited thing? Anyone have any more info on where teenagers hang out in Paris during the summer?
Sorry should have been clearer. You can just buy a carnet of 10 tickets. It’s just ten individual tickets that work out cheaper than buying them one at a time. You can buy them at any ticket machine or counter in the metro. I don’t believe that the Paris Metro has an unlimited pass like some other places. At least we didn’t find one.
