2008 World's Fair in Zaragoza
Mon, 07/16/2007 - 12:59
Hey, is anyone planning on going to the 2008 World’s Fair in Zaragoza, Spain? My girlfriend and I are trying to plan a trip trip to Europe next summer and we plan on making the World’s Fair one of our stops. The theme is water and it looks pretty interesting.

Never been to a World’s Fair….but you should go! It sounds like fun. Zaragoza is itself a very interesting city of cultural, historical, and architectural importance. From the Moorish-era Palacio de la Aljafería, to the city’s massive cathedrals: La Seo / Catedral del Salvador and Nuestra Señora del Pilar, both with their interesting fusion of Gothic, Baroque, and Mudéjar (Moorish-influenced) architectures. It’s a rich city.
You may also be interested in the nearby town of Calatayud.

luv_the_beach suggested Calatayud for a visit. I suggest Fuendetodos, birthplace of Francisco de Goya y Lucientes. I’m sure there will be a lot about Goya at the Fair. I would go just for a steady diet of Jotas Aragonesas. For me, that music is more what Spain is about than Flamenco
BTW
Calatayud is where Dolores (la Flor de Calatayud) was from.
We went to the Expo in Sevilla in ’92. I’m sure it won’t be as HOT in Zaragoza as it was in Sevilla.
