2010....Make it happen
Mon, 11/16/2009 - 08:23
I have booked my room for 2010.
Discuss….
I will be there as well, every year the same routine, can’t wait!
GD: What dates are you going again? We arrive the morning of 9/20/10… staying 5 or 6 nights..
MunichBeerBoy
How about posting what hotels you are booked at and what price have you booked for 2010 so others can see what is the going rate for rooms.
Can the regulars give tips on the different groups of people that pick certain days to go. I have heard of the certain weekend dates attract the Italians, Swedes, etc.
Thanks,
Would love to spend a week in 2010 at the tents.
I always stay with a friend who lives in Munich so I can’t comment on the lodging.
In general it is advised to come during weekdays as the friday evening, saturday and sunday (except for evening) are overcrowded.
The middle weekend is ‘Italiener” weekend, so many Italians will come. Some are great fun, but some are also annoying. Also I learned this year that they don’t like it if you make sexual insults about their mother.
Gents: Staying at the Hotel Uhland (# 1 Uhland str.) – literally 50 yards from the fest (Theresienweise) entrance for 150 EUR per night.. Two peeps, the wife and myself… Dates: 9/20/2010 thru 9/24/10 – then staying 1 or 2 nights at the BayerischHof…
MunichBeerBoy
Good to know! I will be knocking at your door at hotel Uhland for an afternoon (after three mass) nap!
We will definately arrive there the morning of Sept. 20, 2010 sir!
MunichBeerBoy
GD: I have sent you three e-mails with our plans & dates, etc. It would be great to fly-over the pond with you on 9/19/10 out of JFK.. Great times and rates on Lufthansa DIRECT flights (JFK-MUC),,, returning on 9/26.. MK
MunichBeerBoy
Oh my God – i also booked my room and i will visit the unbelievable Oktober Fest for the first Time in my live. I’m so fucking excited .. I cannot wait gg. Seriously – does anybody want to fly with me to Munich and stay there until the Fest starts ?
Air Berlin only $755 (tax & fees incl.) from JFK to MUC on 9/19/10… Bus. Class is only $2020 + fees… If I can swing it, I will fly Biz Class.. Either way, I am on that Airbus 330 – returning on the following Sun. (9/26) fo sho! Anyone want to hook-up before the O-Fest in Manhattan & “gameplan, please e-mail me at addr. listed below. I will take the early direct flight (using miles) from JAX to LGA, jump in a taxi at 8:30 a.m. or so on Sunday, 9/19 – walk-around the city for a couple of hours, then hit an Irish Pub about noon in mid-town.. Any suggestions?
The flight to Deutschland departs JFK at 1745 hrs, so we can get lit – up for about 3 hrs!

C’mon people… Let us pickup the chatter here! A mere 9 months, 3 days, and a few hrs to go!
MunichBeerBoy
I can’t wait!
I am contemplating whether to go for the Fruhlungsfest as well
I have attended that fest twice… A good time for shore.. GD: What hotel you and ur buddy staying at? We’ll be at the Hotel Uhland (50 feet from fest grounds) for 4 nites, then BayerischerHof for 2 nites.
MunichBeerBoy
I might goto Munich the weekend of 12-14 march, no fruhlungsfest yet, but maybe some sunny days to enjoy the beergartens.
Usually quite cold thru March, but there have been a few years out of the past ten where it got to 55 degrees witb some sun.
MunichBeerBoy
I will book a ticket from march 12 until march 14, just 99 euros all taxes included with Lufthansa (from Amsterdam).
I am sure it won’t be cold in the Hofbrauhaus!
What is a Munich Oktoberfest?
jasmine
Where country is Munich Oktoberfest being celebrated?
jasmine
@Jasmine:
perhaps it would not have been difficult to do a google search on ‘Munich Oktoberfest’ to answer these questions?
Anyway, it is the biggest beer-fest in the world held in Munich, Germany, from sept. 18th to Oktober 3rd , 2010. And each year for two weeks approx. the same time.
That is like asking where the sun is!
MunichBeerBoy
My Wife and i just bought our tickets and booked our hotel around the corner from the Hofbrahaus!!! We are in Munich for 8 days. Its part of our honeymoon and Munich was my choice for Oktoberfest! What else is there to do while we are there? i want to hit up the Oktoberfest for a couple of days and then get out and see some things. We will be there September 24- October 1 2010
Paris, Munich

If I were you I would spend the spend your first few days outside of Munich, as the Oktoberfest is too crowded on weekends, and you won’t even get into the tents. So visit places like Neuschwanstein, Chiemsee, the Alpes, etc. Then hit the Wiesn for tuesday until thursday.
Come to Vienna instead!
Booked http://www.hotelacht… €85 per person in a double room for “Stammgäste”. €100 per person for normal guests.
September 20-21, 2010 (Monday+Tuesday nights and will be there most of 22nd as well).
Booyow. Prost (nach zweihundertjahreart)!
I am looking to book a table for dinner on 9/20 or 9/21. Who else is in?
Mike- I thought I replied back to you….hmmmm. Ive been out of the loop for a bit between work and travel. Anyway, Im going to Amsterdam first for a few days. Plan is to leave on the 16th for AMS, go to MUC on the 20th and fly home on the 23rd.
Forgot to add… im staying at the Le Méridien Munich. Using travel points + $50/night.
Having never been, i would love to do this, but i wont be there until the weekend of the 24th.

That’s great I have been debating between 20-21 or 23-24 (I live in Vienna so it is only a 4 hour train ride). I have alway missed path with you Gdrinkh2o so will stick with 20-21st even though some others will be at the end of the week. Are you up for a dinner reservation? How many are you?
For me same, will go either from saturday 18 until wednesday 22, or else from wednesday 22 and leaving sunday 26th
Bernie and I are trying to book a table at the Augustiner for either Monday or Tuesday night. (20.-21.9) Would you be interested?
probably yes, I think I will book the tickets soon, so then I know for sure. We’ll be two or three guys. Will be fun!
Come to Vienna instead!
I already have a ticket. We will drive to east germany in the weekend from Munich, Monday 15th of march I will spend in Munich
Alright it is booked now! Me and my mate Karsten are coming from saturday 18th until wednesday 22nd. Hopefully Peter will join as well.

Chris: SOme peeps just do not get it.
MunichBeerBoy
This will be my first time @ Oktoberfest!!! =)
and will be spending Sept 16-21st in Munich.
anyone else staying at The Tent??
Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Athens, Delphi, Corfu, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Rome, Berne, Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam, Dublin, Sligo, Ibiza, Madrid, Barcelona, Reading, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, Salzburg, Munich
I will not stay in ‘The Tent” but wish you good luck. I hear that it is only possible to have a good sleep there when completely drunk, but I guess that shouldn’t be a problem for an ozzie.
Some of the guys here incl. me will be there during 19-22 sept. so why not have a mass together
hahaha.. well tis the cheapest accom, considering thats where I’ll be finishing my Euro Trip, every cent saves counts and of course will be fair sloshed, thats what Oktoberfest is all about right? and just loving life!
yeah sounds wicked! Has someone booked a table? heard thats the place to be! (or dancing on them)
Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Athens, Delphi, Corfu, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Rome, Berne, Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam, Dublin, Sligo, Ibiza, Madrid, Barcelona, Reading, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, Salzburg, Munich
I think ‘Luvbeers’ is trying to book a table for 20 or 21 sept. but without reservations it won’t be a problem to find a place. You just walk around and ask people to join their table. Only on saturday and sunday afternoon they tents will be closed probably if you don’t have a reservation.
yeah my brother went last year, ended up meeting people who had a table and met so many people from over the world. cannot wait!
have you been to Oktoberfest before?
Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Athens, Delphi, Corfu, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Rome, Berne, Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam, Dublin, Sligo, Ibiza, Madrid, Barcelona, Reading, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, Salzburg, Munich
That’s the way to do it! The Germans call this ‘ Wiesn-Bekanntschaft “ , friendship with people you meet at the Oktoberfest
I have been in 2001-2003-2005-2007-2008-2009 so this will be my number 7
Awesome! 7th Oktoberfest ey.. you’re pretty much ‘part of the furniture’
I don’t know if finishing my EuroTrip in Oktoberfest is a good or a bad thing..
Rome, Athens, Istanbul, Athens, Delphi, Corfu, Budapest, Dubrovnik, Rome, Berne, Paris, Ghent, Amsterdam, Dublin, Sligo, Ibiza, Madrid, Barcelona, Reading, Cardiff, Edinburgh, London, Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, Salzburg, Munich
Actually the furniture are those people whose families / companies already have their fixed booked tables for the last 50 years. I still consider myself a rookie!
I’m thinking about a trip to Germany with a stop in Munich for a night or two to attend Oktoberfest. Nothing is set in stone but I was wondering how far in advance I should look into booking a hostel? Is it already too late? A co-worker will be visiting family in Dresden and we talked about meeting up in Munich for a litre, or two or three.
Neither of us knows a damn thing about Oktoberfest. I assume one just picks a tent, finds an open space and enjoys drinks and food with those around him/her?
