@yojimbo
you should book accomodation now, it is already quite late, most people have booked already. If you visit during weekday, you should be fine. In the weekends it is usually not possible to get in the tents, they will be closed.
Just remember that an ‘open space’ will often mean an already full table, where you will try to squeeze in
Cool, man. Thanks for the info. This trip is still in the very early stages of planning that I would refrain from actually calling planning. If this ball gets rolling I will make sure to stop by Munich during the week when it’s less busy. By all accounts Oktoberfest is a riot and it would be awesome to witness firsthand even if it’s just for a day or two.
Booked a few weeks ago. Gonna be there the 26th through the 2nd. My hotel is right between Marienplatz and the fest. In years prior I’ve stayed on the outskirts of Munich but I’m pumped to be so close to the action. Anybody up to meet during the second week?
Just bought my airfare and realized that I will be in Munich during Oktoberfest! Having a mild panic attack about where to stay…. The Tent does not look like any sleep will be had. I am a solo female traveler from the US, leaving from NYC and traveling throughout Europe for 6 weeks. I would love to meet up with any of you at Oktoberfest. I will be there the 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Guess lucky to have it land in the middle of the week. First time at Oktoberfest but would love to meet up for dinner.
Also, I know this is going out on a limb here… but does anyone, who already has a booked hotel room, want to take in this gal for those three nights, or any one of those nights?? I will gladly sleep on a couch or floor and contribute towards the cost of the room!
Even if that isn’t possible…. I’d still love to meet up with some of you!

@drowningdolly
Don’t panic, you must consider yourself lucky to be part of the greatest party in the world! And you will be there during weekdays so no problem of getting in the tents.
About accomodation, maybe it is not the smartest to advertise here that you are a solo female traveller and are looking for somebody who will invite you in their hotel room. As you will probably meet thousands of (often Italian) guys who will be more than happy to take you back to their room or camper and make italian babies with you, so just be careful.
BTW, Luvbeers here has set up a Facebook group for people who want to meet up during sept 20-22 at the fest, if you like you can join it too, it is here:

just checked out the event on Facebook, hope that’s all cool. cannot wait

Should have made it a bit clearer that I wouldn’t just take up room with just anyone!! Ideally a couple that wouldn’t mind a third wheel ha. I’m sure finding other females to room with would be next to impossible. If anyone hasn’t booked a room yet and would like to share a room for three nights, please contact me… Again, other females or a couple.
Bigfoot, if you think your friends would be comfortable with that, I wouldn’t be opposed to it. I am very clean and I wouldn’t be there much. I plan on 2 days of Oktoberfest and the third day of other sightseeing. I’ll find you all on fb.

@dd: for the first night (21-sept) it would be no problem I think, but I am leaving on wednesday evening, so maybe you can find something for your second night.
@sloshy: will be fun seeing you there as well! Pls join the group event on FB.
About your itinerary, I see in Belgium you plan on visiting only Gent. That’s a nice town, but the real gem is Bruges, so don’t forget to go there!
Cheers Bigfoot.. or should I say Prost!
already on the event. yeah.. will try and swing via Bruges, but by the callender, think i’m gonna run outta time to go everywhere I wanna see in 16 and a half weeks.

new to this forum but i will be at oktoberfest this year from the 20-26.
staying at the tent and i’ve heard its hard to sleep there but i am a ridiculously heavy sleeper, especially after drinking, so i think im good.
I am looking to book a table for dinner on 9/20 or 9/21. Who else is in?

where do you want to book? I usually prefer to spend the evenings in the big tents….

i have heard that 1 or 2 people that are looking to sit in a tent will not have that big of a problem is this true???
Amsterdam, Munich
No worries. I will be on the Air Berlin flight out of JFK on 9/19/10.
MunichBeerBoy
looks like we have the same crowd here as on Tripadvisor
When you are alone or with two guys you can always squeeze in at a table somewhere, just ask the people politely.
The only problem is on weekends when tents might be closed, then they won’t let you in.
TA has some good advice,

So it looked as if I was going to be a cancellation this year. Saving for another house and thought it unwise to spend the cash.
That being said, Im starting to get that tingly feeling as it gets closer. I still havent booked my flight but Ive had my room booked for months. We may be back in business….I will keep you all informed.
I am in the same boat…. Rooms & Flight booked, but I really do need to help my daughter get her own place – and move outta my house! Oh heck,, she can stay another year!
MunichBeerBoy
You guys can’t back out now! It will be one big party!
sure i will be there from the 24-27th leaving late night on the 27th so pick a tent for Sunday

Hey guys,
so just booked flights for my eurotrip last week. Oktoberfest was a late addition!! I know, I know… it’s late in the game to start booking rooms, etc. but it is what it is…
so… any advice on where to book cheap but good accommodation? There will be 4 of us so we were even toying around with the idea of looking for a private flat for 3/4 days. then again, I haven’t done much research yet and that might cost more than going the hotel route.
any advice would be appreciated!!! PROST
Have a look here for private accomodation adverts fo during Oktoberfest:

Thx bigfoot!! will definitely check that link out…
Noch 64 Tage, 1 Stunde 28 Minuten bis zum 177. Münchner Oktoberfest.
So “teilnehmer” oder “participants” we have received the bill from the Hacker Fest Tent. To secure yourself a seat at our table of 20 (10 places have already been taken by our Austrian colleagues) please send me €30 by August 10th, 2010. Send me a message and we can discuss those options. With your €30, you will receive a ticket good for 2 one liter beers, a half roasted chicken and loads of debauchery. The reservations is for Noon-5:45pm, Monday, September 20th.
well this sucks , had to cancel my trip to Oktoberfest this year (*^$@) if anyone is in need of a single in suite the Hotel Uhland now has one avaliable for the 24-27 of sept.
