Hello, just looking on the Bahn website for train schedules. When it says this (see bolded section below), does it mean if I have a 2nd class eurail ticket, I can only have the seated accomodation? So would we have to upgrade to first class and reserve a couchette that way? Or am I reading it totally wrong? thanks!

Subject to compulsory reservation, Bicycles conveyed – subject to reservation, Number of bicycles conveyed limited, 2nd class only seated accommodation, Sleeping-car, Couchettes, Bordbistro, snacks and beverages available from sleeping-car/couchette-car attenda, City Night Line

I am leaving from Canada with $5000 for 38 days
Amsterdam, Hanover, Berlin, Munich, Zürich, Lucerne, Rome, Florence, Paris, Bruges, Lille, London

A couchette is a 2nd class accommodation. I think this mostly deals with what’s available if you buy a ticket at the special price listed. The cheapest special fare is usually for a semi-reclining seat in 2nd class and I think it means that seats (as opposed to some kind of berth) are only available in 2nd class. What train, what date????? so I can recreate the page.

ah, that must be it then! There was a special price listed for that train ride.

I forget where it was for now. I do not have my official dates yet, so was just randomly looking at any date to see how long the ride is, etc.

Thanks!

Continue through the booking process — both for 1st class and 2nd class. There are either pull-downs or a booking page that show what accommodations are available on that specific train. Sometimes there’s an option (like “book only extra charge” or “reservation only”) that will show you the price for just the reservation if you’re using a railpass.
