$752 Good Fare to Europe This Summer??
Sat, 02/16/2008 - 19:47
Hey guys, I just found a fare through the consolodator www.economytravel.co… for $752.04 for the following through British Airways:
Initial Flight:
Nonstop flight from Atlanta to London (Gatwick) on May 5th
Return Flight:
Flight from Amsterdam to Atlanta (with one hour lay over in London) on June 18th
It’s the best I could find as of right now, so I went ahead and purchased it – but my question is, as time progresses and we get closer to the summer, what will fares do? Would I have been able to find a cheaper fare if i waited until the last kinute??

Generally they “go up”, i.e. the cheaper ones get sold. Sometimes you can wait wait wait then get an amazing deal, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I did it last year and got a ticket from New York to BCN for like 450 or something…. but I just as easily could’ve ended up with something for 1200.

But in general, the $752 a person I’m paying is atleast decent right?
Oh yeah, definitely. Open jaw, under 800… you win [

Yes, that’s a good price because it’s > 30 days and open jaw, and at the start of peak season. ITA turned up $839. I do see ATL-LON roundtrip for $670, but you would have had to add time and expense back to London to take advantage of that.
It is not a good strategy to wait until last-minute for US-Europe flights—especially during peak season (summer and Christmas). I think Feicht got a special on new service offered by Iberia if I recall.
Yeah, I don’t know why it was so cheap, really. I was just about ready to spend 850 on something, then bam, ultra cheap fare from Air France. But yeah… sitting around waiting for prices to drop is never a good idea haha
