I was wondering if it was legal for me to bring back a bottle of Absynth with me to the US. I know its illeagle to buy it here but could i bring it back?

Sure, the same way people bring Diazanon, Parathion and Malathion into Europe to use in their gardens, in a mouthwash bottle (or two)!
 
Also, remove the wrappers and labels from Cuban cigars, although US customs is pretty wise to this.
 
I know two guys from Holland who brought a zillon dollars of LSD into Holland from the US in impregnated toilet paper rolls.  They told the Dutch customs that US toilet paper was much softer than European toilet paper!  (Which it is).
