Advice for 7 days between in/out of london!?
Sun, 07/29/2007 - 22:11
Hi everyone –
This site was a great help to me last year.. thanks! I’m excited to be looking for more advice again for a short trip this time.
*Note- Last year I went on a 3 week trip and hit the following cities:
Dubln, Amstdm, Barcelona, Naples, Rome, Florence, C.Terra, Praugue, Paris. I had a great time in every city (Barcelona and Paris were my favorites).
I only need advice on what to do outside of London! I have (7) days, not including time in London (includes travel days in/out of London).
I’m tempted to do the following:
Aug 16th: Easy Jet From London to Barcelona
Aug 17th: full day in Barcelona
Aug 18th: Clickair from BCN to Zurich, then train to Interlaken
Aug 19th: Full day in Interlaken
Aug 20th: Train from Interlaken to Munich
Aug 21st: Full day in Munich
Aug 22nd: Easy jet from Munich Back to London
So you’re probably thinking “way too much”. That’s why i need your help – please talk me out of this and suggest other ideas. To give you a little background, I love the idea of going back to Barcelona – Great laid back city, lots of fun, beach.. just my style. However, I’m torn between this place I know I will love (i spent 3 days there last year), versus checking out places I haven’t seen, such as Switzerland (which I don’t know very much about but have heard Interlaken is beautiful, and full of fun great-outdoor opportunities). And then there is Munich, I wanted to make it here last year but didn’t have time.. it got cut last minute. I’ve heard great things and would like to see Germany.
So that’s my dilemma.. I’d love to hear your thoughts on what do with the 7 days. For example, do you think I should forgo switzerland and spend an extra day in Barcelona/Munich… Or forgo Switzerland and Munich and just do day trips from Barcelona.. maybe see Madrid or other coastal cities? I loved spain and maybe Madrid would be worth checking out. OR should I forgo Barcelona and have more time to check out Germany/Switzerland?
I am really torn and I have to decide soon.. Airfare price is going up.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts or opinions

how about fly london/zurich…….go to the Bern mountains. do your interlaken/hiking thing (3 days). train it to Munich or Berlin (one of these places for 3 days) and drink beer/eat pork knuckles/go on a bike tour and fly back to london
London, Paris, Tours, Caen, La Rochelle, Annecy, Genoa, Venice, Florence, Rome
Thanks for your thoughts!
But miss out on Barcelona?
So i’ve got one vote for skipping Barcelona…
How much fun exactly… is Intarlaken?
Anyone out there prefer Barcelona/Munich?
I had a buddy of mine went to Interlaken two years ago and said it was a great time if you like outdoors stuff or mountians. This is part of the reason why it is on my list of cities to go see. If you don’t, then I would think Barcelona would be the better choice.

check out this guy’s switzerland photos
interlaken looks cool
i’ve been to barcelona
i spent 2 full days
it was ok
Gaudi is freaking amazing
but the city wasn’t awesome for me
you only have 1 week.
for me this would mean 2 places
pick and choose
happy travels
London, Paris, Tours, Caen, La Rochelle, Annecy, Genoa, Venice, Florence, Rome
THanks for your thoughts!
I decided to fly from London to Munich.. drink beer and take a couple tours, take a train to Interlaken, climb a mountain and jump in the lake., and then fly back to london from Basel, Switzerland.
Does anyone have advice on the possibility of taking a night train from Munich to Interlaken? Idea of the cost? Links to the source info would also be greatly appreciated!
Thanks again –
Hooty
Seven days in London area? My advice is to bring alot of cash.

Hooty, maybe you can find the answer to that question in the Transport forum.
It sounds like a busy but doable week.
