Hi, I am looking to fly with a friend to Spain where I will stay for a few weeks and they will stay for a few months. My question is: how much would it cost to book us both on the same itinerary there and back, and then call once in spain and push their return back to the US back a few months? The reason I ask is because it is a big price difference if we both want to be on the same flight there and we book separate itineraries. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There’s no way to tell the exact cost, but I can say it is probably a bad idea. Your friend would have to pay any fees the airline charges for making changes plus the difference between their original and what the fare is selling for when they make the change.

I had a similar situation and it was about the only time a travel agent saved money for me on a flight. My husband was on a different schedule and flying home together from Rome added about $350 to the cost of my ticket. A travel agent, familiar with all the code shares, etc. got me on the same flight with my husband for $35 more than the cheapest I could find on my own — and I had one less connection on my flight to Europe.
