After Paris...
Thu, 04/17/2008 - 20:33
Hi everyone,
I am studying abroad in Paris for 6 1/2 weeks. Afterwards I have 18 days of travel as I fly out of Rome on July 13th. I was wondering if anyone would mind looking over my itinerary and
a) tell me if it seems too rushed
b) should I cut out Montpellier and spread my time somewhere else? If so where?
I’m hoping to finalize this itinerary and start making reservations… Also, should I make all of my hostel/train reservations before I leave the country?
Any suggustions would be greatly appreciated. Oh and by the ways I am a 21 year old college student from the United States.
Thanks!
Itinerary
*June 26th PARIS to BARCELONA (aprx 11 hours via overnight train or one way flight?)
June 27th arrive in a.m. BARCELONA
June 28th BARCELONA
June 29th BARCELONA
*June 30th BARCELONA to MONTPELLIER (aprx 4-5 hours on train)
June 31st MONTPELLIER
*July 1st MONTPELLIER to NICE (aprx 4-5 hours on train)
July 2nd NICE (day trip to Monaco)
July 3rd NICE (day trip to Cannes/Juan-les-Pines)
July 4th NICE
*July 5th NICE to VENICE (aprx 8 hours, overnight train)
July 6th VENICE
*July 7th VENICE to FLORENCE (aprx 2-3 hours on train)
July 8th FLORENCE
July 9th FLORENCE
*July 10th FLORENCE to ROME (aprx 1-2 hours on train)
July 11th ROME
July 12th ROME
*July 13th ROME (fly home)

I’ve seen worse posted here, but you may indeed want to leave out Montpellier since your itinerary includes a non-existent day – June 31st [image]http://www.eurotrip.com/forum/image/s2.gif[/image]
HAha that’s a new one [

For the itinerary though, I’d take a day from Florence and give it to Rome.
Bath, Haltwhistle, London, Füssen, Freiburg, Stuttgart, Speyer, Nördlingen, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Salzburg, Rome, Ostia Antica, Athens, Delphi, Athens
I’d keep the day in Florence but use it to visit Siena or Lucca.
Monaco isn’t worth a full day.
I wouldn’t book/reserve trains before leaving the States. You’ll have plenty of time in Paris to organise the overnight trains. Depending on where you’re staying in Venice, I’d consider booking. Leave the rest till you’re there.
Hether,
I’m not too crazy about your itinerary.
