I understand that Youth Hostel have an age limit, but haven’t seen any restrictions on most of the Hostels on this site. Can I presume that there are none? I’m a 44-yr-old mom taking her first trip with her 18-yr-old graduating HS son… he obviously would qualify, but can I also?…would rather spend money on sites/experiences than on a room we’re only need for sleep…

I am leaving from Chicago, O'Hare with $4000 for 19 days
London, Paris, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Wertheim, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Munich, Hohenschwangau, Salzburg, Hallstatt, Pisa, Sorrento, Capri, Rome

Most hostels don’t have age limits. This old post may help:

Hostels in Bavaria used to have a top age limit, but this is no longer the case. This pasted from Ricksteves.com: http://www.ricksteve…

Quote:
A youth hostel is not limited to young people. You may assume hostels aren’t for you because, by every other standard, you’re older than young. Well, many countries have dropped the word “youth” from their hostels, and for years Hostelling International has given “youths” over the age of 54 a discount on the membership card. Even the last holdout, the German state of Bavaria, has finally dropped its youths-only restriction. If you’re alive, you’re young enough to hostel anywhere in Europe (with the rare exception of some independent hostels that have age cutoffs of around 40). The average hosteler is 18–26, but every year there are more seniors and families hosteling.

Thanks! Checked out the links & I think this is going 2 b a lot of fun. My son just had a ‘hostel experience’ of sort- – he got caught in the blizzard (we’re in IL) & couldn’t make it home. Luckily the hotel he stopped at let him have a room (he’s 18) — he had a blast hanging out in the lobby/ lounge w/other stranded strangers…

I left some comments on your itinerary in the trip planner.
