so im going to have about a week to spend in ireland, approximately 28th august – sept 4th, and I’d like to plan it out properly since its such a short time and  there’s so much to do and see.

I’ve already been to Dublin, and I was considering going back to visit some friends but if its not enough time, i will probably just skip it and focus more on the west and southwest.

Does anybody know ireland extensively and is willing to help me set up an itinerary ? I’m lookin for information or experiences about cork/galway/limerick/killarney and  small towns in the west/southwest that might be worth a visit.
So far I was thinking of checking out the lisdoonvarna matchmaking festival in county clare sometime on the weekend of the 1st of september, and besides that i was thinking of doing some surfing on the west coast. I’d also like to see abit of countryside as well as rural villages.

help!

I used the Search button (the one in the upper left) and came up with these posts:

I’ve visited County Limerick as well as Limerick City: if I’m returning to the States I usually stay at a Hotel across from the Limerick City Bus/Train station (Railway Hotel – 2-stars at best) so I can catch the 7:45 AM bus to Shannon in the morning.
Which brings to mind a question:  will you be arriving/departing Shannon?

As I recall, the Matchmaking festival is late Sep to early Oct; so you might be a little early if you intend to participate.  But there’s a lot of other stuff to see/do in west county Clare.  I think Lahinch (very close to Ennistymon & Lisdoonvarna) is considered the surfing capital of that region.  There’s a fully equipped ‘surf shop’ and it’s the only place in the Irish Republic where I have seen surfers doing their ‘thing.’.

I read on their website that the matchmaking festival is August 31st to October 7th, 2007.
if thats true then i would be able to make it the weekend of august 31st.

has anyone been before ? is it worth a visit?
