I live very close to Canada and I am considering flying out of the Vancouver International Airport.

Does anyone know  –
Are the baggage restrictions the same?
Are the security restrictions the same?
Can a person bring a water bottle onto the plane?
Are there any possible complications of being an American citizen flying into or out of Canada?

Baggage and security rules are pretty much the same. Restrictions on liquids are the same, luggage allowance depends on an airline, not on an airport you are flying from.
You should not have any trouble, people do this all the time. But be prepared to:
1. show your tix out of Canada on US-Canadian border on you way out;
2. prove that you are coming straight back to the US upon you return to Canada.
