Politics, Ignore this if you’re not interested.
How can you say that our media is more biased than your own? It is amazingly easy to find many sides to one story in the US. I do not agree with everything that my country has done but, having been in Europe, I would not choose to live anywhere else and I have no hesitation in fighting for my country if I have to but I suppose I have more loyalty than most. As for the US tank commander whipping out a coke, I suppose you’re a hypocrite since you’re watching American programs such as CNN. Don’t worry, eventually they might stop using such big words and you’ll be able to understand them. But don’t bet on it. If we have to kick ass, then so be it. I still live in the greatest country in the world.
I live for the day when the US is seriously humbled, already the dollar is taking a hammering, the economy is in the toilet, and it’s only a matter of time before another major act of terrorism will will hit the mainland US.
I was shocked at 11/9 but when it happens again I wouldn’t feel a thing as I’ve become quite jaded and believe that the US probably desirves it, especially after the needless damage, pain and suffering the US have inflicted on the people of Irag and Afghansitan.
Before anyone shags soldier boy he better wash the blood of the children out from under his finger nails it’s not a good look.
this comment makes me naseaus. how can anyone deserve to be attacked at their places of work? guess what, non american citizens died on 9/11 as well..have some heart…and as far as the ‘pain and suffering of the people of iraq and afghanistan, its okay for them to put pain on the US? thats a bit hypocritical dont you think?
Ummm…what? First of all, neither did I do anything to the people of Iraq nor did I support it in any way. Secondly, where do you get off telling me, and all other citizens of the US, that we (probably) deserve to die for something we have little control over? Yeah, you are jaded…a jaded bitch who has nothing better to do than sit around and critique what other people are doing while doing nothing about the situation yourself. I’m sick of people like you, who have as much control over the situation as I do, telling us "Americans" how WE are fuckin up…like the country that you call home is sooo much better.
Sunny.girl..shame on you!!
I am a European who is living in America…no I don’t agree with everything that is going on..but America does not need another terrorist attack….they have had quite a few in the past 10 years and I think are well aware of thier vulnerabilities….Oklahoma City bombing…the World Trade Centre bombings 10 years ago and of course 9/11.
I was in America for 9/11 and Americans were really shocked..yes,they didn’t think this could happen to them, but it did…
What ever happened to compassion?
What really pisses me off is that now something has happened to the US everyone in the world has to suffer; terrorism was around before 11/9. For fucks sake people get with the picture here the US sponsored and supported Bin Laden you were a nation that supported terrorism. All those eggs that you laid came home to roost in a big way.
Beccaboo the US military have been attacking people at their places of work, homes, religious site and just walking the streets for years and have gotten away with it. People like you make me sick, the hypocritical attitude of the American people is incredible.
Stephc1520 what ever happened to compassion for the tens of thousands of lives lost due to inept US foreign policy over the years. Do you feel compassion for the several million Vietnamise who died or the millions of Iraqi’s (mainly old people and children) who died whilst the US blocked Iraq after gulf war 1. Do you feel compassion for all those killed when some idiot pilot dropped his bomb on a wedding party or a school or a hospital, where was the compassion then.
When I watch the news and here that another american soldier has died in the Iraq it really pisses me off that CNN, ABC….. try to make him into a hero, that’s he died for a good and just cause. What about his victims why aren’t the deaths of Iraqi people reported who is their voice. I’ve been in the US in the last couple of weeks and the news you get is highly sanitised and not the same as you get in the UK or Australia, you only see the bits allowed by the sensors. Freedom of the press, yeah right.
actuallly,
im not being hypocritical. I never said it was a good thing that the us military is attacking people..its horrible. but what you said is that we ‘desereved’ a fucking terrorist attack? since when do people deserve that -and by that i mean ANY people. geez.
.
Sunnygirl, answer kat234’s question. Where are you from?
and what happens when Americans are bored with dead Iraqis… and even their own countrymen? Thats right, lets dig up an old corpse like Princess Diana… who I might add instead of bombing poor people did her part in trying to feed them, Let’s put he blood splatered face on the TV. Americans love a good dose of blood. Don’t you? But when it comes down to it… soldiers dying is great. The more idiots who enlist, then die, make the war unpopular… and since the war is the result of the blood sucking ford-dealing envangelists that endorse ßush… the less likely he will be to be re-elected… OH prase the whoever… that would be a great day not only for america but for the rest of the world that has to suffer the policy inwhich it’s bombs dictate.
America land of the free? DOn’t think so…
1st Amendment… nope sorry not allowed
2nd Amendment… a definate hell no… you war mongers are too stupid to walk around with guns
3rd… alright as long its someone else’s country
4th… this one really takes the cake! I can’t believe its in print!
5th… OJ simpson
6th… there are some people in Cuba who could disagree with this.
7th… this just goes to show that liberty needs to be revised every so often
8th… it just gets better and better don’t it?
You can’t even say fuck on the air without being sued by the FCC $10,000!!! But you can go to war and cause the painful death of almost 20,000 people in the last year… deep breath… in… now out…. have a little sense please. What do you think the kids think? War is pretty damn cool, eh if’d you’d ask mez thank you! Great way to raise the next gen. yeeeehaaaw! damn terrorists!
Collateral damage breeds terrorism. If you want to fight it. Stop fighting morron.
Don’t vote for Bush
Don’t vote for Bush
Don’t vote for Bush
Don’t vote for Bush
I could go on… but it doesn’t take an intelligent person to look at the way the government has thought since day one to realize that the USA is the definition of hypocrisy
Sunnygirl you are my hero… email me pls cwgraffix@hotmail.com
I’d rather not say, where I’m from is my business, but it should be easy to guess, I think I’ve left enough hints.
Subject: Politics
If you’d rather not say where you’re from Sunny Girl….That’s OK.
I assume from your "hints" that you are either from the UK or Austrailia.
I am proud to say that:
I AM CANADIAN!!!!!!
Are you devoid of feeling???
If one of your family was visiting the US on that fateful 9/11 day…
Would you say they deserved to die???
Innocent victims die everyday in the US, Israel, Irag etc…. as a result of terrorism….
I am sure that many people share the sentiment that they didn’t
"deserve it"
Cheers
Kat
Sunnygirl, why don’t you take a look into the history of what your own people did to the native Aboriginies in your own country. I doubt that you have ever looked into this history nor would you because you are too busy bashing Americans so I have made it easy for you and posted some info here for you.
"In Australia we have had a meeting of great white minds in the form of our Highest Court, which decided (after 200 years of not noticing the inhuman sufferings of Aborigines) that before the British soldiers arrived in 1788 with a mass of petty convicts to make us part of the British Empire, there were PEOPLE living here. Those people were a race of intelligent humans with black skins
Aborigineswho had resided here for a known 60000 years. What followed was a mass murder of those residents, especially by white police, graziers, army and business-men. Many were killed in weekly turkey shoots for sport, particularly if they were brave enough to defend their families. This continued till even 1950. Since then, our racist ‘Police’ have continued with normal murders, generally in secret deaths in custody, but the secrecy has now been exposed into common-knowledge. After so many years of survival on this harsh continent, no genes had developed to make Blacks immune from diseases like measles and also alcohol poisoning. Black people cannot absorb alcohol. Thus our jails have a very large percentage of Aborigines, mainly for being drunk and disorderly, insulting the police, swearing, fighting while intoxicated and generally being unable to understand white-man’s laws.
The police preferred method is to hang Blacks with football sox or strips of blankets and claim that they had suicided while drunk. Commonsense suggests that two men must have lifted the victim and arranged the other details. The evidence has been clear that tribal people must not be separated from their culture and family members. It is imperative that they not be jailed for minor offences, rather taken to their families and elders to be judged by Aborigine Laws, or, for drunkenness, driven a few miles out of town and left under a tree to sober-up to find their way home next day. Or the police could treat them like drunk white politicians and deliver them home? Some States have laws forbidding whites to sell liquor to them, but the whites have their own laws including making profits from the delivery of booze to an arranged transfer area.
Our Politicians hide behind this new High Court judgment, which specifically prevents Aborigines from claiming ownership of land, unless they have had continuous occupancy or association. As most tribes were decimated, few are left to make the claims. Appeals to the Court have to be paid by the Aborigines. The Court also declared that if any Lease of a section of land had been registered to a grazier or miner, the Aborigines could not claim that land either, whether in use or not. Two hundred years of loud-mouthed windbag politicians have achieved nothing except to overlook white crimes of kidnap, murder and family separations of children from their parents. Australia’s outback is generally used as cattle leases, previously or still ‘owned’ by British, Foreign interests or large local family businesses. Some tribal groups have bought the failed ranching efforts of white graziers and have often succeeded, having much more respect for and affinity with the land.
Those forced to live in our main cities are subjected to yuppie young police guided by untrained sergeants better known as wallopers but with much less intelligence than the normal quiet thoughtful happy objects of their mistreatment and repression. Those who live in most tribal areas live mainly in squalor, with little health care and a visit from politicians near each election time for more speeches and promises. The greedier the white person is, the more he seems to hate these beautiful people."
BTW, this was written by an Australian.
I am also a foreigner living in the USA and I have lived in and travelled to many places and there is no other place on this earth I would rather call "home".
Did you get dumped by an American boy recently? Is that why you are so jaded?
Hi Ho I think I might add my two cents. Firstly I feel sorry for the dude that started this topic the poor bastard is copping some flack, go get a good fuck, a bit of head and have some fun. I just wouldn’t tell anyone you’re a soldier and have been in Iraq that wouldn’t help your chances in getting any action.
No onto the political bit, I think the US should piss off out of Iraq and let the Iraqis sort themselves out. I believe that Iraq was a grab for oil pure and simple, it was on Bush’s agenda before he became president, you would have to be a total bonehead to believe otherwise. I also feel that the US should pay reparations to the Iraqi people for all the needless damage that has been caused by said grab for oil. This war has nothing to do with terrorism, it’s a cover for the real purpose in securing a long term supply of the black stuff.
The only bright point to come out of this whole ordeal is big Saddam is no longer in power, so thumbs up for that one.
Someone else mentioned that freedom of speach or the press isn’t a right that is upheld in the US anymore here’s an interesting article about this http://xtramsn.co.nz… .
I’m impressed that this webpage has managed to keep a topic going for so long. In the old days this thread would have been locked up and deleted, thumbs up to Wandrian for not interferring like the old owner/s (Andrew) used to.
Sunnygirl, I just wanted to confirm that you are indeed Australian. So, if tommorrow 100 Australian troops were to get killed in Iraq, would you also " feel no guilt whatsoever" because "what they are doing is wrong and they deserve to get whatever happens to them"?
Too right we shouldn’t be there. The only reason why we are there is because the US put pressure on us and we want a free trade agreement with you.
It’s obvious that what is in most need of a regime change is the educational system all over the world.
Couldn’t agree more!
I honestly don’t think Bush went to war with Iraq for oil. I think it was mainly because Saddam made his father look like an idiot but if Clinton had been doing a good job instead of getting head under the desk we would have done this earlier with good reasons instead of now. And I have to ask, when Saddam tested chemical weapons on his own people in 1991 and killed thousands of civilian men, women, and children, did they deserve it too?
this specific forum has become so damn outa hand lately….
"The only bright point to come out of this whole ordeal is big Saddam is no longer in power, so thumbs up for that one."
and thank you for that. Can I not find anyone here to toast a beer on something positive here at all?
I have no quarrel here with anyone, except maybe for Sunny.girl but I have problems with people saying that my Brothers and Sisters in arms deserve to die. I just enjoy debating things with other people. I don’t drink but I’ll toast to a rousing argument between intelligent people with a cup of coffee, because that’s the closest thing on my desk I could toast with.
As I sit at my terminal ….

Carrasquillo69: 15 days isn’t a lot of time.. if it’s the beach you want then I’d definitely forget about Berlin (although it’s amazing) and Eastern Europe and head for Barcelona and Ibiza or Majorca (both have great clubs). Your two weeks will fly by, no point trying to see too much if you want to relax.
To echo what someone else said earlier on in the thread, I wouldn’t broadcast the fact that you’re an American soldier if I were you. That wouldn’t go down well here at the moment. Enjoy your trip.
15 days is more than long enough to get the clap, go boy go, watch out for carpet burns on the knees. Hey do we even know if he likes girls it might be boys he’s after.
Kiwi Rob…
You have not been paying attention….
The mere mention of carrasquillo 69 request to "see some beautiful women" as well as his other posts should leave little room for doubt that his preference and desire is for females.
I have no doubt that he will be safe and use protection when/if he goes that route.
For the benefit of Kiwi Rob only …Carrasquillo69, please respond.
Sadly I think we must conclude that Sunnygirl is definitely an Aussie.
It’s strange to read that she believes human life is worth taking in terrorist attacks like 9/11, which included babies no doubt similar to those she is defending in Iraq.
She comes across as a rather naive and uneducated person who has not experienced much of life. As such, her input is therefore irrelevant.
carrasquillo69, I hope you get all you are looking for on your leave. Don’t forget to give us a "blow by blow" description after the hodiday is over!
unless you’ve spent a good deal of time in america, you really don’t know what you’re talking about. reading, it’s clear in most cases who’s american or has spent a fair amount of time here and who hasn’t.
and sunnygirl, you think american’s are so brutal and deserve to die ( considering your view on another terrorist attack here )? i’ll send you my fucking address, come over here and i’ll teach you about american brutality.
Luvbeers,
You obviously don’t know much about the US Constitution
1st – most censorship is in the form of labels and warning. you can argue all you won’t that the media is censored but the report what they choose, not what they’re told to.
2nd – its a right to bear arms, not to carry them in public. Even so I’ll guess you’ve never been to Texas.
3rd – thats obvious
4th – you obviously don’t understand this. In colonial america, the king could issue "general warrants" which allowed the search and seizure of any house for any reason.
5th – OJ was not tried twice, he was tried once in a criminal court of which he was aquitted, and later in a civil lawsuit
6th – those in cuba are not US citizens, doesn’t apply
8th – are you referring to the death penalty? that is left up to the individual states to decide.
Sorry that I’ve been away for so long, I haven’t had an opportunity to hop online lately. I’d be lying if I said I continued to read every one of the posts (althought I’d wish to), but I kinda skim over the political responses for travel advice. I wish to thank everyone who responded in this fashion. I agree that 15 days isn’t enough, but until I get a chance to go on my own (I leave the Army Oct 2005), 15 days is all I’ll get. I think I’m leaning towards the Barcelona, Ibiza, along the countryside of France, Italy and God willing, finishing up in Greece (preferably the Greek Isles). Anyone have any advice on any of the Greek Isles? Oh yeah, where is Majorica? Someone listed it as a great club atmosphere.
I never expected this kind of response to such a vague question. I’d like to respond to a few of the most recent posts. First of all, I’m native Puerto Rican, Cuban and African American, born and raised in the NYC metropolitan area. I enlisted into the Army exactly 8 days after Sept 11th. The incident was horrible, but especially for me, since it was in my backyard. To all those who have no sympathy for all those who have died since that time ‘till now, or those who wish to show no love for people who lay their life on the line to protect the freedom you obviously take for granted….? So be it. I hope you never have to rely on anyone, for anything, who thinks like you do. Lastly, I’m 100% heterosexual. I love latina’s (beautiful), asian’s (very sexy), canadian’s (fabulous personality), americans (attitude)…..I love women in general. This is what makes me go. What drives me thru each shitty day. I wish to go to Europe to see nice places, but especially to enjoy (God willing) the company of some lovely european women. If this sounds bad, forgive me. I’m only a man. Thank you, everyone, for your continued responses.
For me too there are days when I know that very little else is important.
No, Carrasquillo, you are THE MAN. And we should be thanking you.
Enjoy yourself there.
Now that you seem to have narrowed down your choices in terms of destinations…
I would start researching accomodations and commence your fine tuning…
July is "High Season" and rooms get booked pretty quicky.
Also some cities are more expensive then others…Budget accordingly and you will be fine. Perhaps the individuals on this post can reply with suggestions by location…eg.
Place: Barcelona
Accomodation Great Hostel: XXXXXXXXX
Accomodation Great Hotel: XXXXXXXXX
Best Party Establishment : XXXXXXXX
Best Place to Eat Cheap : XXXXXXXX
Best Place to Eat $$$$ : XXXXXXXXX
15 days is not along time once you factor in the travel time..
All the best….
Kat
If you believe there is any other reason for the coalition occupation of Iraq beside money for contractors… You are a fool.
Post-War Contractors Ranked by Total Contract Value in Iraq and Afghanistan:
http://www.publicint…
Bush Administration defense spending:
$399 Billion 2004
$396 Billion 2003
$343 Billion 2002
$305 Billion 2001
In all, the administration plans to spend $2.7 TRILLION on the military over the next six years – and this as both the Office of Management and Budget and the Congressional Budget Office project a federal deficit as high as $200 billion to $300 billion next year.
Thanks carrasquillo69 for making the crackers in Washington even wealthier! While you destroy the homes of people who barely have nothing.
Wouldn’t a lot of that money be better off benefiting the majority of Americans by spending it on healthcare, social services and education, rather than lining the pockets of wealthy corporations and Bush’s buddies.
I would be pissed that my tax dollar is being spent on weapons and rebuilding a country that didn’t need to be destroyed in the first place.
Majorca is another one of the Balaeric islands – Majorca (Mallorca) and Ibiza would be the best for partying.
Yea so Iraq and Afghanistan were bombed in order to make money off of the reconstruction, gives a whole new meaning to renovation now doesn’t it? Thats pretty smart considering the actual missles were worth more than most of their targets. Try sticking to the oil arguement, it’s much more plausible.
Barcelona and Ibiza are known as guaranteed party spots.
To the members on this board….
What city’s/towns in Greece, Italy of France share a similar distinction?
When responding…Please list the city and the preferred party spot.
Subject: Travel Advice Majorca
If anyone viewing this post has ever visted and partied in Majorca…Kindly provide feedback…
Thanks
Kat
If you dont agree with the war..great…but there is absoultly no reason for you to wish harm on someone who is protecting the FREEDOM of AMERICANS and the free world. If you think that he should die because he wants to have a little fun while being on leave from fighting a war then I pray you are not living a comfortable sheltered life in the USA! If more attacks on America occur you will be yelling that the military is not doing anything about it…we have taken a stand..and as of late there have been no more attacks on the US.
If you truly think that the troops are baby killers then why dont you run for office or join the military so you can make a difference. Even better join the peace corps and do something to help the people of Iraq in a different way. And until you step up to take some sort of corrective action you should keep your oppion of our soliders social lives to yourself.
Brinna= read the whole post… Sunny girl is clearly not American, and does not agree that the Americans are protecting the free world. That aside… I still think that sunny girl is a simpleton.
Olay on the the real reason I have posted… in Paris at 3ducks I got a lot od action. any hostel with a bar will provide you with ample sexual opportunities.
cgirl
Would you people get a farkin life… Geesus.!!
I have read to first two pages of this thread and that is all i could bare. I jumped to the last and still the same shit.
I am also in the Army (Australian Army) .. I have been to East Timor Twice, but haven’t been to Iraq yet. I have many really good mates who are there right now. So get over the war shit. They guy just wanted to know where to go. He didn’t ask for you bloody political views.
carrasquillo69 – Word of advice, I have been in the Army for nearly six years and one thing I have learnt. If you dont want a load of wingy ass doo gooders telling you about how long we should wait before we go out and do something to protect the people in the world who actually do give a shit about each other. DONT TELL THEM YOU ARE IN THE ARMY…. You may get 30 "Good on ya mates" but one goody two shoes will stuff your night.
I am going to visit the Australian Memorials from WW1 while I am in Northern France, and have a beer for those guys while I am there.. You can be damned sure I’ll have a beer for you guys as well..
CHEERS BUDDY – Look after yourself while in Iraq.
I will be in Europe 26June – 26 July itinerary can be found at www.eurobash04.com you can also drop me a line there if you wish..
Croatia has some sweet beaches and islands, and if you’ve seen enough sand already then it’s also got equally beautiful countryside. This time of year it’ll be 20odd degrees and the beer will be as cheap and tasty as the women are warm and moist.
carrasquillo69
Haven’t heard anything from you in about 2 weeks…
Are you still going?
hello all! everything’s ok, and i appreciate your continued responses. boy, the more advice i seem to get, the harder it seems for me to make a clear cut decision on where i should go. i do read everyone’s posting (believe it or not) and take all advice seriously. Sometimes, however, I do feel that most of the postings have taken a road of their own, but that’s ok, also. i know it’s not possible, but i sure wish i could visit every country in europe. i say this now because of where i am, but i really think i will enjoy every place i visit. i would appreciate the architecture (?) of all the beautiful cities in europe, but when, and if, I go, i’ll have to get into the meat and potatoes of everything. as most of you already know, nothing is written in stone in the service, so i’ll have to cross my fingers, but worse case scenario, I’ll get out and then go to europe for a prolonged vacation. please continue to respond with your advice, although it may take a minute, i do read all the postings. thanks again….
well, it has been awile. so long, in fact, that i almost couldn’t find this discussion board. seems like my leave that was scheduled for late july will come in early september instead. i still have a strong desire to visit europe, but unfortunately, i do not have an inkling of where to go, or more importantly, what events take place during this time. any advice will be greatly appreciated…
Thanks for your service.
Partying and girls are on the top of my priority list as well and Ithink you are right on with Barcelona and Ibiza. They’re both amazing, especially Barcelona due to it being a major city as well as great beach/party scene…Have fun
Try doing some research! There is a search button on this forum, or just go to Google and type in any European countries and learn about them. I love going to Barnes and Noble (bookstore) and just browsing through all the travel books. They have their own section for travel. I think you got ALOT of advice in this thread alone (minus all the other BS that was spouted here). Go to eurorail.com and consiter a rail pass. I did that and got some Aussie action in Berlin at the Circus hostel in 2000 (heh!). Go to the party destinations like Ibiza that others have mentioned before. Go to Prague. For events taking place at specific locations, do a search! It’s really not that hard
.
My first trip to Europe, I did solo and did ALL the planning by myself off the internet.
There is a poster here named Kahunna and he has an INCREDIBLE travel journal online, complete w/ pictures. kahunna.net . Definetly check that out for inspiration!!
Good luck w/ your search. Planning trips are SOOO MUCH FUN!!
hey carasquillo69
Seeing as you have only 15 days leave i would suggest just going to two or three destinations- will be a lot more relaxing and you will get more time in each place to get a feel for it (and also find out where the best places for drinking and meeting members of the opposite sex are!)
I have a couple of suggestions of possible destinations, along with others who have posted on this board i would recommend prague. The beer is extrmely cheap, as is accomodation etc. compared to some other places in europe, there are loads of bars and nightclubs, and as well as being a lot of beautiful eastern european women there it is a very popular destination for young travellers, so you should meet people of all nationalities!the city is also well known for having a large amount of strip bars etc. and so would be a good place in that respect for meeting women!
perhaps you could spend a few days in prague, then head to berlin in germany for a few days (prague is in the czech republic which borders germany, so it is not too far) and then catch a flight to either barcelona or one of the balearic islands amjorca or ibiza and spend your second week there, it could be a nice mix of city culture in week one, and beach culture week two. I could look into the price of cheap flights for you if you were interested.
If you head to the balearics, my best bets for you would be the town of Magaluf in majorca, or ibiza town in ibiza – both are basically party places, have great beaches, great nightlife and lots of women!they are also extremely popular destinations for british holidaymakers, so you should meet a lot of people with your language in common.
Hope that this helps you a little bit, i look forward to hearing what you decide to do with your trip. I hope that you are still safe and well in Iraq, and hope you can understand that not all of us here believe that the military are responsible for the actions of government!
natalie
Thanx for serving our country.
We all apreciate it a ton.
Prague and Oktoberfest!!!
He was also influenced by the poeple he associates with: his cabinet, their friends, and his father’s friends. Most of these people had either some sort of potential financial benefit from the Iraq war (which is very evident with just a little bit of research), while a few others had some sick and twisted fundamentalist religious agenda.
Or maybe the Reagan adminstration should be blamed for creatng this monster: giving him $millions$ in war aid, even during the human rights abuses, including documented gassing of Kurds in 1987, and gassing of troops in neighboring Iran during the 1981-1988 Iran-Iraq war…things which the Reagan administration was well aware of.
