Amsterdam to Luxemborg City or Germany...what to do
Sun, 05/06/2007 - 12:08
hey all…Am planning a trip over to the netherlands in August and was wanting to take a side trip while over there. I really have my heart set on going to Luxemborg City and checking out the Moselle region for a couple of days but ws wondering how long it would take to get down there from Amsterdam. I realize it isn’t very far but was thinking that there are not any direct train routes and that I would most probably have to go to Brussels and transfer onto another train. I was curious if anyone has done this route before and if so, how long would it take.
One other thing, in case this trip ends up taking a bit longer then I would like, what are other peoples thoughts on going to Germany instead for a couple of days.
Thanks for the help!!
Cheers!!
http://reiseauskunft… for train schedules anywhere in Europe — you should be able to get around this area easily by train or on buses that are run by the rail companies so show up on the train schedules. Amsterdam to Luxembourg is about 6 hours with a connection in Brussels.

Luxembourg is an attractive city, if a bit dull. Good for a day. You’ll proably find more to do in Germany.
You’re looking at about 6 hours to Luxembourg, only 3 or so to a German border city like Aachen, which is well worth a look around. From there, Cologne and the Rhine towns aren’t far. You might want to check into the fireworks/wine festivals that take place in August in different towns:

Thank for the help everyone. I sincerely appreciate it.
