Amsterdam to Munich to Interlaken
Fri, 03/06/2009 - 16:34
All,
I assume that rail would be the best way to get from Amsterdam to Munich (for budget travelers), and then from Munich to Interlaken. Is there anything specifically to note when traveling by rail — should we make sure to take the night train or stop in any specific cities (for a brief period)? We will be in Amsterdam for 3 nights, Munich for 3/4 nights, and Interlaken for 3 nights.
Thanks in advance for the advice — trying to nail down this leg of our itinerary as we are going in June-July ’09, and really excited about Munich and Interlaken.
Cheers!
I am leaving from AUS with $4000 for 34 days

http://reiseauskunft… Use the German rail system for schedules anywhere in Europe and to price and buy tickets for trips in Germany or that start or end in Germany. There are frequently specials available (like 43 euros, ticket and couchette reservation for ADam/Berlin) — check 90 days before departure. I would probably do overnight from Amsterdam to Berlin — there’s one direct train at 20:31. Munich to Interlaken is around 7 hours and involves at least one connection with no direct overnight trains, so I’d look for a place to spend a day or so between.
Cheap airline would be the best way to get between AMS and MUC, if you are a budget traveler. Just finding the right plane seat may be a wee bit of a problem
If you have any questions about Prague or Czech and Slovak republics, ask me.
If you only want to search train or bus connection within Czech&Slovakia and/or to neighboring countries, use www.cp.sk or www.idos.cz search engines. For domestic transport, they also show prices.
