You might like Hamburg it’s around 4 hours from Amsterdam as I recall and deffinatly a good party place. Fall is cheaper in a lot of ways than summer. Paris is awsome too but the nightlife seemed weaker in my opinion. You might want to check for special events in the time frame your going to help you decide etc.

Brussels and Brugge in Belgium would be good nearby destinations. If you like beer, Brussels is paradise! Accomodations might be a little less towards the end of Sept. than in July or August but I think that may still be peak season. Definitely rent a bike and tour Amsterdam. Fall is a great time of year to go!

To save money and time, catch night trains, how about Berlin or Munich, both touristy and well as good on the night life. You can also pick up a cheap flight to London

Your $1300.00 budget for three weeks works out to about 51 euros a day. This is not a lot of money to travel in Europe. Hotels and one meal a day could eat up your budget. Some of the train trips mentioned here would break your budget. If airfare is also to be included, your daily budget would be around 30 euros a day, And would only work if you fly from an east coast gateway airport and get a great round trip ticket price.

Artstuff, the budget I mentioned was not including the airfare. And I guess I was planning on staying in hostels. But, you’re right, 50 euros a day doesn’t seem like enough. I may have to shorten the trip.

In that case I will probably only make it to (possibly) two other cities.

Get wasted with the British tourists – they will entertain you for hours.

Close Cities worth visiting
Rotterdam – cool architecture – cube houses, bridges.
Brugge – Old world style buildings, moats, windmills
Must drink some beer and eat chocolate
Paris – A MUST SEE!!!!
Mastrich – Cool little city
Luxembourg City – Very Very Cool – Castles, Caves – like you stepped back into the 15th / 16th century

If you rent a bike, watch for the tram tracks as they

MY QUESTION-is that four hours on plane or train? I cannot find the train schedules anywhere?! it’s driving me crazy!! all i get is the swiss timetables on this site.

50 Euros per day could work, but not with a hotel (except in rare cases) nor if you want much nightlife or culture. Paris and Amsterdam are both pretty expensive cities.
