Angkor[image]http://bp2.blogger.com/_sM9RvfYWF5Q/Rl2c1ISPIDI/AAAAAAAAAOM/W_vC3THrmOE/s200/backpacker-AngkorWat2.jpg[/image] Wat (or Angkor Vat) is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built for King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century as his state temple and capital city. The largest and best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre — first Hindu, dedicated to Vishnu, then Buddhist — since its foundation. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has becom a symbol of Cambodia, appearing on its national flag, and it is the country’s prime attraction for visitors. read  more..http://travelbackpacker.blogspot.com

Yeah, the temples of Angkor are phenomenal!  Definitely one of the highlights of my backpacking trip across Asia.  Aside from Angkor Wat, make sure you check out Bayon in Angkor Thom, and definitely Ta Phrom were a scene from Tomb Raider was filmed.  you’ll feel like you’re in an Indiana Jones movie.
