This building, erected in the early 1600’s, is the most well known home in Amsterdam. In 1960 it was converted into a museum honoring the life of Anne Frank who hid in the rear of the building with her family to avoid prosecution from the Nazis. Visitors have the opportunity to see the rooms that safeguarded the family during the Nazi occupation and view expansive exhibitions highlighting the effects of discrimination and racism. There is also an impressive collection of materials chronicling the life and times of Anne Frank.
