any ideas for the Scotish Highlands
Tue, 03/11/2008 - 10:17
Alright, looking for ideas again,
Fly into heathrow and then heading up to scotland, was planning on a beeline to Aberdeen to meet up with a friend for a day or so and then making our way back down to Glasgow to catch a cheap ryan air flight to Paris.
we fly into LHR on a red eye, arriving Mon morn’ and have to meet people in paris the following Sat or Sun.
Would like to see Edinbourough, and maybe catch a high level football match but that is about it, and am wondering how the best way to pass the week is.
Any Help much appreciated
[=“2”][=“times new roman”]Well I guess it really depends when you are going… [/][/]
arriving the end of april
The Highlands are more to the west, where I am pretty sure all of Scotland’s munros (mountains over 3,000 feet) are situated. Glen Coe is on that side.
After Aberdeen, maybe you could head over to Inverness; this would probably be a good place to find a football game (Loch Ness is touristy but you can do that too.)
But for high level football maybe Glasgow is your best bet? It’s a good place to visit for a couple days IMHO.
If you would like to see a distillery and taste Scotch whisky, stop at the little town of Pitlochry and go to the tiny Edradour distillery.
If you care for castles and history much, Stirling is a must-see. I think its castle is way cooler than the one in Edinburgh.
But Edinburgh is certainly worth seeing.
