Hey everyone,
I am considering obtaining a 1 year working holiday visa for NZ and am curious as to whether it is really a realistic option for me. My concern is of course, obtaining work. I am a certified secondary English teacher (unemployed at the moment) and I am looking to teach in NZ. Clearly I think the best I could get would be either supply or temporary positions, especially with such a visa. I checked the NZ education site for standards and info and I would have to get my qualifications reviewed and assessed (and pay insane fees) before I would even be considered for any position in schools. Then I deal with the challenge of actually finding work. My certification area is not on the shortage area list either. It seems like a HUGE pain in the ass and very costly, so am wondering if it is worth it. I have nothing going on here in NY as there are no jobs and will be no jobs for quite a while. Just wondering what the scene is like in NZ for education. Anyone??
Thanks
