Au-Pair France
Sun, 03/29/2009 - 12:36
Hey,
I am going to be an au-pair in Biarritz, France for 3 months this summer. I have a EU passport along with my Canadian passport. I was just wondering if anyone has any idea on whether I still need to get a wokring visa or not? the agency i am working with says i should be ok because its only 3 months but i plan on staying for an extra 2 weeks to travel around spain and france, so i dont want to be left hanging at the end of my trip.
Has anyone been an au-pair in France before?? any advice??
thanks!!

I don’t think that you will need a visa if you enter France with your EU passport. However, I think that you will need to register with the local government, not sure. Check out the French government website for more information.

Ditto on lissa’s advice. If your EU nationality is not from France, you’re still entitled to work there as an EU national, but you may need to register.
You may find this link useful: http://europa.eu/you…
Of course, as an au pair, your employers may prefer to pay you under the table. And as an EU national, you can stay in France indefinitely as a “tourist”.
