I was looking for advice and possibly to see if anyone knows any good websites to checkout.

I was looking at how much I should plan to budget

Any ideas of what to do Im not planing to make an itinarary but to try and do as much stuff as I can till I run out of money.

Any help is appriciated

Sorry, didn’t see the thread!

I don’t know any good websites, but once you figure out some specifics to search for you should get a few that are helpful.

$75 AUD a day (including accommodation at a backpackers) should get you by in a city, provided you shop at the supermarket for food, and don’t go out to the pub every night.

Of course, more than $75 AUD is definitely welcome, and more will be needed outside of the cities and major tourist areas. accommodation anywhere else will have to be at a hotel.

Australia has quite a big music festival season. If you like music festivals just some of the best are the Falls festival and Pyramid Rock over New Years, there’s also the Big Day Out in January, Parklife ( focussed on doof doof, electronic bands and hip-hop) in late Spring. Tickets to the good festivals (except some locations of the Big Day Oout) sell out in less than a day though.

With the whole summer at your disposal you could feasibly see most of the country. Here’s what I posted in another thread.

Quote:
I’ve never been to Perth, but I have been up the east coast, which is fantastic. The Great Ocean Road is great, Melbourne is a great city, a little bit grubby but with a lot of character.

Canberra, while interesting enough if you like museums is probably a bit dull if you want to do something in the evening.

Sydney, for the brief time i was there seemed like a good city.

Traveling north of Sydney and seeing the transition to rain forest was quite impressive.

While Brisbane is alright for a short stay, by most accounts the gold coast, just south of Brissy is more ‘happening’. I haven’t been north of there, but the Daintree Rainforest is apparently fantastic, just a little bit away from Cairns.

For that matter, Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory is world renowned.

Another thing, fly around or take the train wherever possible. Buses between locations are incredibly dull, boring and slow!

Anything else?
