Austria Apart from Salzburg and Vienna
Wed, 04/11/2012 - 14:01
Hello all,
I’ve got a couple of days free in my trip to spend in Austria this summer. I’m starting to run out of time to research and plan so I was wondering what suggestions you guys might have.
So far I have planned:
Several destinations in Slovenia then travelling from Bled to Vienna (Day trip to Bratislava) then to Salzburg and to Munich for the flight home.
I’m trying to find an ideal place to see a bit of the countryside, lakes etc between the 3 last cities on my trip (Vienna, Salzburg and Munich) I’m looking for somewhere beautiful where I can do some outdoor activities, mountain biking, maybe some kayaking etc.
Are there any places near to those cities, reachable by train or bus with cheap accommodation you can suggest, or must I travel further west towards Innsbruck? or, take a day trip from Salzburg or Vienna?
I was also wondering if it’s ideal to travel by boat from Vienna towards Salzburg? (and finishing the journey by train or bus) or should I just take a day trip from Vienna to see some of the Danube?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I am leaving from Ljubljana with $2000 for 16 days
