Hi there!
Me and a friend have just returned from Amsterdam and stayed somewhere really terrible!
We had a drink in another hostel St Christopher at the Winston and had a look at the rooms which were amazing. There was a really lively, cool atmostphere and the vibe there was really young and exciting.

This summer we are looking to visit:
Paris
Berlin
Hamburg
Zurich
Venice
Rome
Florence
Barcelona
Madrid
and Valencia

and was wondering if anyone could suggest some lively, fairly central places to stay with good atmospheres in any of these places, so we can avoid places like the Cockroach Hotel we stayed in when we went to Amsterdam. Thanks alot!

In Florence you may want to consider Archi Rossi Hostel. I stayed there and it was probably my favorite hostel.

In Barcelona you may want to consider Kabul Hostel. It is a very lively hostel. When I was there they had a ‘Happy Hour’ and you could buy 2 liters of beer for 3 euros. When everyone starts drinking like that at 6pm, it is bound to turn into a party.

For venice i think it depends on if you want to stay on the island or mainland. When i went, my friends and i stayed on the mainland. What i liked about it was it was close enough to bus to the island for the day, and it was in this gorgeous neighborhood, it was definitely quieter which was extremely nice and it gave off a ‘true’ feel for the city, how the locals live. And the locals were so friendly! but anyway, it was Hotel Venice Villa Dori

I stayed at the Bee Hive hostel in Rome. The staff was incredibly nice and the bunks/rooms were modern. It has a pretty alternative vibe and there is an organic restaurant in-house. Also, it is close to the Termini train station, so the rest of Rome is essentially at your finger tips.
