Back from Morocco
Sat, 05/28/2005 - 13:36
A great trip! Not at all as difficult to get by as I expected (and I don’t even speak French). Hardly got sick at all, though my gf was under for 7 days (but not so much she couldn’t go out). Two words of advice if you are planning on going:
1. choose reputable ferry/bus companies (otherwise, don’t expect schedules to be anywhere close to correct)
2. bring your own alcohol to small towns
Hi there! I’m really interested to go to Morocco myself. What was your itineray like? What are the names of some of the reputable bus/ferry companies?
Only went to a few places actually (rest of the time was spent in Spain). Here was the itinerary:
- into Ceuta from Algeciras in Spain
– taxi to Chefchauoen (3 days)
– bus to Fes (3 days), daytrip to Sefrou
– train to Marrakech (3 days)
– train to Asilah (2 days)
Best places, IMO, were Chefchauoen (small town) and Marrakech. As for companies, try CTM for bus and Trasmediterranea for ferry.
Thanks for the info!
Sounds really fun! I’m glad you had a good time. Grad school needs to be broken up by trips like those!
Totally! The fact that I didn’t tell anyone I was going until about a week beforehand only adds to my bad-boy image (if such a thing can really be attained in grad school).
ha, I did that last year with Scotland!
