I’m looking to purchase a backpack for a week long trip to Europe in ’08.  What’s a good pack to buy?  I visited Dick’s Sporting Goods and they carried JanSport and Kelty and a cheaper brand that I don’t recall.  They have a pack online that I liked (High Sierra Explorer 55L Internal Fram Pack) but they didn’t have any in stock at the Dick’s location I was at.  Any thoughts on these brand of backpacks?  Thanks in advance.

Any back pack recommedation will work as well.

I used a high sierra pack for 2 months in europe and it is still in great shape. Here’s a link to the one i bought from amazon.com:

The best part was the day pack you can separate from the backpack. Hope this helps

I have an LL Bean bag, and I LOVE it. It’s big enough for a month-long trip (which I did this summer), and it has a pull-up rain cover piece. They have lots of great backs, I think the ones I checked out were in the Escape series.
