Yes, busy time for the pickpockets because of the crowds, but that should be your only worry.Quote:
That’s fine, but I wouldn’t avoid being out at night. That’s when you get the “feel” for a place. Europe isn’t like suburbia where everyone is home in front of the TV after it get’s dark. There will be people out and about at all hours.Quote:
You’ll usually meet folks in the common areas and in the dorms in hostels. Quote:
Yes, it’s safe. No one will be interested in your dirty laundry and your souveniers (unless you’re buying expensive, electronic gadgets for souveniers). Most hostels have a place where you can lock up your pack — bring a padlock.Quote:
I don’t see the circumstance where you’ll use your money belt, but yes, it’s a good idea to split stuff up.

I am 20 years old, from canada.
I am going to be backpacking alone for all of july and august. is that a safe time to go?
So basically i should just be watching for pick-pocketers? I am not a party person, so I would definetly be back at my hostels as soon as it gets dark. I just want to sight see and check out musuems and what not. And I am sure I would make friends along the way right?
Also, for having a day pack, is it safe to leave my backpack in the hostel? And do most hostels have safes? like to store souveniors and what not?
Also does the eurorail run all over europe?
Should I keep my visa seperate from my cash? because you would think if i lost my money belt, and it had my visa and money togehter i would be screwed.
Thanks for helping, I am excited!
