Many travellers come into Turkey from the Greek Island of Samos and make the ancient city of Ephesus (the second largest in the world) the first on their list of must-sees while they stay in Selcuk (20mins from the Turkish port of Kusadasi). Selcuk is also the site of the Temple of Artemis (one of the Seven Ancient Wonders), the Caves of the Seven Sleepers, and the House of the Virgin Mary, all of which provide an insight into how life on the Aegean Coast was thousands of years ago.
The numerous day trips from Selcuk range from traditional Turkish culture and ancient history, to adventure and natural wonders. Some ideas include the calcium pools at Pammukale which have been forming over thousands of years, the Greek wine village of Sirince, and the three ancient cities of Priene – Millet – Didyma. Alternatively there is Aqua Fantasy (the largest water park in Europe), sea kayaking, canyoning and diving. The below links provide further information on what there is to see and do in and around Selcuk, as well as all the information you need for ferries between the Greek Islands and Turkey:
