Bahamas
Wed, 01/19/2005 - 09:51
So, a group of friends are planning a 4 day trip to the Bahamas. The plan is to go at the end of March/first of April. Has anyone ever gone? Did you like it? I am sure if you have gone of course, I mean beaches, sun, drinks. Who wouldn’t! Just want to hear anyone’s experiences, good or bad. Also has anyone by chance happened to stay at Club Viva Fortuna Resort (now a Wyndam chain)? What is your rating? Just looking for any info you can give. Thanks for sharing!
I went to the Bahamas a few years ago in late March/early Arpil. I stayed at Super Club Breezes. It worked out well with our all-inclusive package although it was expensive (~1500 for a week including airfare). The hotel had different things going on daily like parades, contests, talent shows, etc. They also had a trapeze and trampoline on their property. At the beach you can find people who will let you parasail and hang glide. We mainly hung out at a club called the Zoo at night. There were a few others around Nassau, but that was our favorite. The cab drivers are helpful when it comes to nightlife. Hope this helps some.
Frankfurt, Prague, Wrocław, Paris, Lisbon, Donostia, Barcelona
London, Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Dublin, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Marrakech, London
London, Gothenburg, Oslo, Frankfurt, Paris, Rome, Venice, Barcelona
Amsterdam, Bruges, Interlaken, Nice, Cannes, Paris, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London
Expensive ,expensive, expensive. Try a $150 ow flight to Havana from Nassau and it is a little cheaper and more of an experience!
Not that bahamas is bad but it is very touristy, especially when u r going!
Hey thanks for your input!!! I know it is a touristy area but I gotta go at least once. Keep the info coming!!!!
Best bet is to stay on Cable beach, it is beautiful. Nassau beach hotel is my favorite because of the price and you get to share all the facilities of Cable beach hotel as well. The island is beautiful and you will love it, just realize that life there is in the slow lane so don’t make too many plans and enjoy all you can. Visit bay street, the Straw Market and Blue Lagoon island if you get a chance. Have fun and if u want contacts down there give me a shout at lizzies_life@hotmail.com. Just tell me what kind of places u want to see and I’ll tell you where to go!
Nassau is great and I think 4 days is perfect. I went for four a couple of years ago and I was ready to go home halfway through the trip. I stayed at the Breezes and had a great time there. There is a "disco" in the hotel that throws toga parties and pajama parties on certain nights. The restaurants in the hotel are very good too. All-inclusive is the way to go. Plus, there is a minimum age of 18, so there are no small children around.
We rented mopeds and made it around the island in a couple of hours. Try to snorkel if you have a chance (we saw sharks, stingrays and all kinds of fish in shallow, clear water). The Bacardi factory is out of the way, but they let you taste any of their dozens of differnet kinds of rum for free. Get ten people together and they will give you a tour of the factory (we only had three so we didn’t get to go, but we took advantage of the free rum). Straw market is cool, but small. You can walk it in half a day. There is a casino within walking distance of the Breezes hotel on cable beach which is where we spent the last several days betting on baseball games at the sports book and roulette because the trip was dragging on for so long. Definitely take a booze cruise if you get the chance. It was the best part of the trip. The atlantis hotel is really nice to see too. It has the largest outdoor aquarium in the world. Have fun
