baja california, mexico
Mon, 07/30/2007 - 19:25
hey guys! well after just returning from backpacking europe ive done nothing but think bout traveling some more. my gf and i planning to go to thailand next year but im also thinking bout/ gettting info on backpacking the coast of baja cali. since i live in california it will easdy to get dropped off at the mexican border but im wondering if anyone has backpacked baja cali before? and also if its easy to get down the coast by bus. i only wanna stay along the beaches. thanks for any help
Haven’t been there, but I did look into the same idea. I just found there wasn’t much there, wale watching, deep sea fishing, off-roading, a couple resorts, and a lot of sand. Seems like civilization is pretty sparse and there isn’t much there that is tourism worthy. I don’t know anything about the culture though, not sure if its your typical Northern, poor Mexicans or the more cultured Southern Mexicans. There is probably good some ocean views and dessert scenery though. And it would probably would be a quick, convenient, and very cheap trip, so until you are able to get somewhere else, why not! If nothing else its a good chance to practice spanish. Be sure to let us know how it goes.
You should have some cheap fares to Mex City from your area. I’ve heard really great things about D.F. and can’t wait to visit!
hey there thanks for the reply. ya im thinking bout doiing prolly late december when the semester of school is out. itll prolly just be like a 5 day trip but what im thinking bout doing is just driving down to the border ( its like 2 hours away) and leaving my truck on the usa side then walking into tijuana and catching a train down to either ensanada or san felipe and staying at a camp gorung/hostel. and then ill decide what i wanna do or if there is even anything i can do in terms of catching bus up and down the coast. if not then ill have 5 days to relax near the ocean in a diff country haha.
